 |
|
Hi,
Got a RXS100 and its great but think the gearbox is on its way out as keeps jumping out of gear (every 10mins or so).
When I brought the bike I got a spare engine with it so my question is, providing the gearbox is much better condition in this one, will this sort the problem?
Is there anything else that could be causing it to jump out of gear?
Thanks ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Yep, the 5th to 4th jump means it's unlikely to be the gearbox itself at fault.
I had an engine in pieces that someone gave me years ago and used the selector drum and selector forks from that. There was scoring in the drum tracks in places, so I figured that was the most likely cause of the problem.
If it was me, I think I'd have the top end off the engine you're using, plus the clutch and flywheel covers, and put them on the other motor. You just have to hope that one is OK |

Thanks for the reply. Going to spend a few sunny afternoons in summer having a look at both gearboxes and seeing if I can make a "best of both".
Is it a tricky job to do? Had a look in the haynes and seems ok.. ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |
