ok first "proper bike" 250 kawasaki twin, now its starting to annoy me by the fact it runs out of fuel after 100 miles.
its caught me out twice now and luckily has reserve but whats your usual range?

Between 15 and 20 miles to a tank on the Teezer.
But its only got a 3L tank, And due to the engine conversion, I can only use 2 of those 3 liters because the gravity fed carb sits higher than the fuel tap. Laughing

So I get 20 miles, to 2 liters of petrol. Thats 40 to the gallon. About right really.

The X7 gives about 90miles to around 15 litres

Yeah me too, so long as I don't rag it too much. Plus about 16 miles after the orange fuel light starts flashing.

Well that is ragging it pretty much.

I guess i usually get low mpg when i commute and do loads of small trips (which i do, but recently with the better weather ive been riding more)

Helps if you dont over/under labour the engine too. Keep it in the sweet spot (if you know what i mean)

CB500. 18l tank, so 3.96 gallons * 62mpg = 245 miles, theoretically. I guess that's if I fill the bike to the brim whilst it's on the centre stand. Realistically, reserve kicks in at 196 miles, where I've got another 2.5l, or just over half a gallon left. This puts the range more like 230 miles. I usually start looking for a garage when I've switched to reserve, so have never tested this theory Smile

On the 125, I get about 200-ish miles. I tend to fill it up every time I hit the 300km mark (it's chinese, and I can't be arsed to fit a speedohealer), and that's a little bit before I hit reserve.
On the Bandit, I had to refill every 100 miles or so, to avoid hitting the reserve. That was mixed riding, but predominantly short journeys, because I'm fat and lazy.
I'm looking forward to the new SV, though - I'm expecting somewhere around 130 on it, and with the advent of summer, I'm planning on getting some seriously long rides in...

Mmmmm... V-twin fun. Cool

Hi

Bandit 1200 when standard would manage about 140~150 before reserve. Think the most I dared push it to was 186 miles.

ZZR600 is managing about 175~180 before reserve in motorway use bimbling along at about 80. Push it to 90 and it use noticeably more.

All the best

Keith
