Hello people...........

Wounder if anyone knows whats size the CG125BR Head light is, and can you add a bigger one, and upgrade the bulb from 25w to something more Brighter?

Riding to squires down them dark roads, i may as well ride with a candle with the dim lights on this Honda CG125BR.

Any one with ideas ?

I just use my "full beam" in the dark on my CG and it's just fine. Not perfect if I'm honest but it's ok.

ms51ves3: why does it need 500 miles? Are you teaching it how to be a piston?

As has been said, you could fit a bigger headlight.

However, I have never owned a bike where the standard headlight has been insufficient for the bike as standard - even my old 6 volt moped light was ok.

You light will be crap if your battery is knackered, or if the bulb is old and corroded, or is the wiring connectors on the lighting circuit are corroded.

the bulb that is in is 25w low beam and 25w high beam, battery fully charge.

On way to squires the road is hardly light on the pitch black roads with 25w and light spread isn't good.

Iam used to the Twin HID lights of my X9, but these lights on Honda are like stone age.

These are the HID light on my X9, is there anyway i can get a brighter light from the CG125, i know i cant add HIDs to the CG as it such a old bike, but must be away to improve light output

you might find as it is an old bike the reflective surface of the on the inside has gone bad and you may need to replace the whole unit, i had this with one of mine i just replaced with some e marked streetfighter lights off ebay, the wattage of the bulb was the same but it was 10x brighter in the end

something similar to this

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/STREETFIGHTER-MOTORBIKE-FAIRING-HEADLIGHT-INDICATORS-BK_W0QQitemZ270356234136QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item3ef27cbf98

there are many different styles you can get but most can be modded to fit, you can also buy a standard headlight depending on the look you want to go for

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UNIVERSAL-MOTORCYCLE-5-CHROME-HEADLIGHT-12v-25w-BULB_W0QQitemZ250359600156QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item3a4a98541c

something like this would be easily fitted to a cg

Depends where it is coming from exactly, could be lots of things.

Valves in need of adjustment, cam chain flapping around, blowing exhaust, bearings dying etc etc etc. Where is the noise coming from, does it increase with revs and does it happen in gear/neutral/with clutch pulled in?

most prob the valves in need of adjustment no cam chain on the old cg's they a pushrod engine. bairings more going to grind than tap though it could be a gearbox prob had a cb throw a tooth on the 1st gear outer shaft once that taped like a son of a........

Oh man, I'm the biggest fan you'll ever find of the CG but that windshield is ugly!

As said, tapping can be caused by an awful lot of things. Valve clearances are a likely one, or an exhaust blow where it seals to the head - this can make a sort of ticking noise, diagnosed by holding your hand near it and seeing if you can feel air blowing or by getting someone who knows the sound to listen.

Check and set your valve clearances, it's a screw and locknut job on the CG so dead easy. Use a workshop manual, and make sure you're using the right measurements for your feeler gauges - my set are imperial, so I get silly clearance if make a mistake and read the metric measurement (0.10mm) and set the valves to 0.0010".

An easy way to find where the noise is coming from is to use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope. Metal end on to the engine, put the plastic end to your ear, and you hear exactly what's happening inside the engine.
