East London.
If you're already stripping the engine down, there's not a huge amount of point in taking it to a garage - you're about 85% there, at that point. Buy a gasket set, get the seals you need, and crunch through it. Seriously - if you're going that far, then there's no need to hand over to a garage.
:edi: I thought you were based near to Enfield. I'm guessing you're much further north, if your profile is correct. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Warped.
Since you have to either fit a new shaft OR a new engine, why not fit a new sprocket, then the nut (or A nut), then tack-weld the nut onto the shaft with a mig welder? You MIGHT wreck the seal, but it's unlikely, you WILL ruin the shaft, but it's already ruined, you've basically got nothing to lose.
Even if it lasts long enough to wear out the sprocket, grind off the tack-welds and repeat. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Just thought, the shaft probably isn't hardened, so you could also drill & tap it for a bolt to secure the sprocket. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

i agree with the engine swap. probably better if your keeping the bike for a few more years. good old sv650 v twin charm good ish power and plenty of grunt. pretty much the same output.
if not then like has been said, if you have it all in bits just do the swap yourself? ____________________

The bike is still whole apart from fairings and front sprocket case.
I like the GT engine through it has more low down grunt and has more power.

Warped - I'd suggest getting hold of a piss-cheap seized engine off of something, strip down the gearbox until you're comfortable with how it all fits together, then fit the part yourself. THis apporach will fit well within the grand you've allocated.
Until Hyosung's parts network improves, that would seem to be the best option you have.
Failing that, see if an SV engine will fit. Not ideal, I know, but it's an option nonetheless. ____________________ '10 SV650SF, '83 GS650GT (it lives!), Questionable DIY dash project, 3D Printer project, Lasercutter project |

Well I have a complete gearbox coming from Cali for the princely sum of shipping
Which has come straight out a race bike with only 2hours wear on it
I must say I nearly killed myself last night been towed home by a bloody SV650s, so embarressing
Kickstart - Sorry to tell you matey, but I do play with tap die's and welding plants for a living, the thread is ermm. FUCKED
The engine is a vertical split jobby but before I take it in, i'm going to strip the barrels, clutch generator of, so they have to do as little as possible. ____________________ amnesia - Never in the history of usernames has one been more accurate. Warped indeed. You sir are a fecking oddball. |
