The bike got delivered this morning
But 2 minuets after the seller called me to say it was on its way he sent a text "forgot to tell you the centre stand spring has snapped its bracket off the frame, I've given the bits to the van driver"
Fookin great stuff, and the stand is properly bent

I cant see where on the frame this needs re-attatching to and I know i cant ride the thing until this is repaired.
Where can i get a new or good used centre stand from?

I really must buy a welder and learn to use it
Just had a better look and I still cant see it under all the muck, it has one of those silly little cone filters on it too, so that's a standard air box and filter on the shopping list too then. |

Ditto that advice. Stands on the twins can give grief too!
For now: have a poke about underneath, the stand will be attached to the frame on a big hinge-pin under the back of the engine / foot-peg area, and normally secured with a rusty split-pin and washer.
Use an old stick, or something 'pokie' to get crud out the way, then a brush and deturgent (Laundry Washing Powders good) to clean it up a bit so you can see what you got.
Pliers if you can see the split pin to pull it out.... lol....
Then an old nail to try and poke out whats left after you've snapped the ends with the pliers.....
Give up when you have very little split-pin poking out, beat hinge-pin to death with hammer until it comes out the stand and frame.
Stand removed, bike is rideable........
You will just have to find walls or lamp-posts and 'stuff' to prop it against when you want to park.
Not ideal.... but you can at least go ride!
If only around to some local car repair places, see if any-one will weld it up for you, add some bracing to it if possible, and put the spring pin back on.
Give it a good go over with the rotary wire before you show it them though, or they'll not be too inclined to help you out.
Paint when sorted, re-fit, with lots of copa-slip and a new split pin. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

It's okay I have one now, nice box of shiny things from Honda
Just letting some penetrating oil soak in before I go and beat the crap out of the pivot pin, it will surrender weather it likes it or not.
I'm in a bad mood at the moment because I'm on holiday, this did not stop my supervisor ringing me at 5AM asking me to be in work by 6 .... He got told to bog off (or something to that effect )
Edit
Pivot pin end belled over so I have resorted to the angle grinder sadly the head of it needs drilling so having a break while the battery charges...
Edit 2
What a ballache that was, burned out all my mini grinder bits for the dremel and the new stand spring was just slightly tight, there must be a easy way but my way worked eventually |
