The bike got delivered this morning Very Happy

But 2 minuets after the seller called me to say it was on its way he sent a text "forgot to tell you the centre stand spring has snapped its bracket off the frame, I've given the bits to the van driver"

Fookin great stuff, and the stand is properly bent Evil or Very Mad

https://img267.imageshack.us/img267/5021/dscf0066z.jpg

I cant see where on the frame this needs re-attatching to and I know i cant ride the thing until this is repaired.

Where can i get a new or good used centre stand from?

If that is the bracket then it'll need to be welded back on, shouldn't cost too much. It looks though like it is just the end that has broken. My cbr has something similar, a bolt sticks out of the engine/frame and the hole in the end hooks over it. If the mount broke off then snapped metal should be easy to spot, if not look for a bolt/post showing some wear on it.

Stands are on eBay - or get the welder to sort that at the same time.

I really must buy a welder and learn to use it Embarassed

Just had a better look and I still cant see it under all the muck, it has one of those silly little cone filters on it too, so that's a standard air box and filter on the shopping list too then.

The centrestands always bend or break on 100/125 cc Honda singles, get the stand straightened and strengthened with some light angle iron. Sidestands are available for the CG125 which can help but if fitting one never leave the bike running on the sidestand as it can sometimes cause oil starvation to the cylinder head.

Ditto that advice. Stands on the twins can give grief too!

For now: have a poke about underneath, the stand will be attached to the frame on a big hinge-pin under the back of the engine / foot-peg area, and normally secured with a rusty split-pin and washer.

Use an old stick, or something 'pokie' to get crud out the way, then a brush and deturgent (Laundry Washing Powders good) to clean it up a bit so you can see what you got.

Pliers if you can see the split pin to pull it out.... lol....

Then an old nail to try and poke out whats left after you've snapped the ends with the pliers.....

Give up when you have very little split-pin poking out, beat hinge-pin to death with hammer until it comes out the stand and frame.

Stand removed, bike is rideable........

You will just have to find walls or lamp-posts and 'stuff' to prop it against when you want to park.

Not ideal.... but you can at least go ride!

If only around to some local car repair places, see if any-one will weld it up for you, add some bracing to it if possible, and put the spring pin back on.

Give it a good go over with the rotary wire before you show it them though, or they'll not be too inclined to help you out.

Paint when sorted, re-fit, with lots of copa-slip and a new split pin.

I would get a new bracket, where the end has broken off. As for the pin if the bracket broke first then the pin on the frame should still be there. Give it a good clean and then new bracket and then re-attach

Thanks, just ignore my dad in his shorts Shocked

I have found the peg that the bracket moves on and its a bit worn but fine for now, so as cb1rocket said i just need a new bracket.... Anybody got one of these knocking about?

Also the stand and pivot have sort of become one piece, I need replacements because I tend to put things beyond use when the persuader comes out to play (8 Lb lump hammer)

I've already fitted a new battery, tensioned the chain and had a look at the swing arm bushes and bearings, all good to go but the chain is getting ready and so is the rear sprocket. Also fitted hell plates Twisted Evil

Stick some pics up when you are done, most of BCF ride either a CG125 or a RXS100. The CG fan boys will love you for it Mr. Green .

bought a pack of 5 of those C shaped spring brackets, will go and have a look for them, then will get one sent off to you.

best place for a centre stand is either ebay for a second hand one or david silver spares for new (about £40 IIRC!)

It's okay I have one now, nice box of shiny things from Honda Cool

Just letting some penetrating oil soak in before I go and beat the crap out of the pivot pin, it will surrender weather it likes it or not.
I'm in a bad mood at the moment because I'm on holiday, this did not stop my supervisor ringing me at 5AM asking me to be in work by 6 Thumbs Down .... He got told to bog off (or something to that effect Twisted Evil )

Edit
Pivot pin end belled over so I have resorted to the angle grinder Twisted Evil sadly the head of it needs drilling so having a break while the battery charges...

Edit 2
What a ballache that was, burned out all my mini grinder bits for the dremel and the new stand spring was just slightly tight, there must be a easy way but my way worked eventually Smile
