Hi folks,

Another Helmet thread, sorry! Looking to buy a new helmet this weekend and not too sure which to get. Looking for the usual; comfort and quiteness! I've had a look at a couple which seem to be pretty good:

https://lidsdirect.co.uk/WebRoot/StoreDaily/Shops/eshop193014/4899/8450/CEED/CAD1/81E4/C0A8/0ADD/ABA3/HJC-FS-10-Carbon_m.jpg

Any thoughts or other suggestions?

Cheers

You can get most Shark helmets for £150 the S500 is nice and light and for a bit more you can get the RSR2 race, which weighs bog all.

Would be my suggestion

I paid ~ £180 for a Shoei XR1100 which has been really comfy and quiet, too. Don't know if you can get those in that sort of range nowadays.

I had an IXS flip front before that so to me, it's lovely and quiet in comparison!

The top one is very similar to the HQ-1 carbon, which they have on a clearance special for £150.

Cheers guys!

Had a look at the S900 here: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/search/Shark%20S900 (bottom of the page) and they look spot on! Anyone else know anything about how comfy/quite they are? A lot colour schemes to choose from as well!

Buy the ones that fits you the best - this should give the best protection.
Get get some decent ear plugs - this will be way better than the best helmet in regards to ear protection.

I've got a pair of speedo ones which are pretty good, but still get a lot of "buffering" through my current helmet. I also want to start using earphones to keep me entertained on the longer journeys, so wind noise needs to be minimum.

I've owned 3 helmets, All Shark. They fit my head perfectly and my newest one is pretty quiet, not to mention B-E-A-Utiful!

The graphics are pretty awesome and they're comfy. But like G said, the one that fits best is the best idea Wink

Edit: Mine is that version, but more bluey... Thumbs Up

I like my CX300 IIs for in-helmet listening - they cut down a lot of wind noise as ear plugs do. Careful of fakes with them on ebay.

True, but you can at least start somewhere. I recommended the S900 or the XR1100 because I've personal experience of both being reasonably quiet, comfortable, well built etc. If the guy goes off and tries both but neither fit him well, then oh well he'll have to find another one.

I have an FG-15, if it fits you then it is a great lid for little money.

Right guys think the S900 might be the one to go for! Can't decide on colour scheme though!

Choices are here: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/702
