You can get most Shark helmets for £150 the S500 is nice and light and for a bit more you can get the RSR2 race, which weighs bog all. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The top one is very similar to the HQ-1 carbon, which they have on a clearance special for £150. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

I've owned 3 helmets, All Shark. They fit my head perfectly and my newest one is pretty quiet, not to mention B-E-A-Utiful!

The graphics are pretty awesome and they're comfy. But like G said, the one that fits best is the best idea
Edit: Mine is that version, but more bluey... ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

These two are the same helmet.
Get whatever helmet fits best. |

I don't really see how anyone can recommend a helmet.
Everyone's got a different shape head, so the helmet recommended by one individual, might not necessarily be the best for you if the fit isn't spot on, and of course this is the most important aspect of selecting a new lid.
I have a Caberg, not because I'm a tight git and can't afford anything more expensive.
It's because out of every other helmet I've tried, including Arai's and Shoei's, the Caberg offered me the best fit.
If it had been a helmet costing 3X's as much, I would have bought it if the fit was good, but they weren't.
OK we can comment on wind noise, but again, everyone's hearing is different, and don't forget the bike we ride comes into it.
The rider of a naked bike is going to experience very different wind noise levels to that of someone on a sports bike, or full on tourer.
The physical size of a rider, as well as fairings, (or lack of), and even the bikes riding position all contribute to the noise levels we experience, so again, it's something no one can really advise someone else on unless they are exactly the same height, with the same levels of hearing and ride identical bikes.
The best advice is to forget about brands, and try as many helmets in your price band that you can, and select the one that is the best fit for you.
There are ways of testing for the ideal fit, and it's not always about how comfy it feels.
Get advice if you're not sure.
A good clothing salesman should be able to help if he's had the proper training.
If, when you do get your new lid you find it noisy, then use earplugs, although I'd go as far as to say that earplugs are a must anyway, and I have tinnitus to prove it. |
