Do twin front disc bikes, have specific discs for each side or can you swap them over?

the reason i ask is because one if my front discs is slightly thicker than the other and so by swapping them between sides i was hoping i would be able to increase the wear life on them. is this possible?

Some are symmetrical, some aren't.

I'd probably be addressing why they are measurably different thicknesses in the first place. I'd start with the calliper on the "thin" one.

I suspect any slight increase in disc life you'd get by swapping them would be offset by having to buy two new sets of pads.

the pads will wear with the disks, changing things over will leave you with unevenly worn pads on unevenly worn disks. This will leave you in a perfect state for a fail under breaking.
Wear then down and replace as needed but take your calipers apart to see why things are wearing unevenly, I bet you find a binding pot.

Under normal conditions your discs should wear evenly.
Sticky pots(or sticky sliding caliper) more than likely.

If your discs are semi floating or fully floated type then check that the buttons(bobbins) are free. Stuck buttons will create uneven wear, and can warp some discs (pulsing on the lever).
