I moved away from IE to Firefox a good while ago due to IE crashing and running slow. IE8 crashed so many times, i need to keep lots of tabs open to work so roughly about 5-8 and when it crashed i had to go back and re open every page GRRRR.

Firefox i like because of the web developer addon, i thought it was quicker than IE and more stable, if it did crash it would bring up all of my windows on restart. Firefox after a while seems to have slowed down and more and more im finding it hanging.

Im now jumping between Chrome which I feel is much quicker at loading pages compared to IE and Firefox. I go back to firefox at times for web developer as its helpful for what i do on the web.

What browsers do you use?

I only use chrome at the minute.
I don't need anything like firefox and it's endless addons Razz
I like chrome because it's fast and never really seem to crash. Does the job nicely for me.

I hate MS so I hate IE.... I used Firefox for many years but seem to have problems with it but this could be down to my laptop being old and having cookies(think that is what it is)

I swear Chrome is the best and fastest now.. I am worried that Goggle is becoming to big and is another MS and will dominate the market...

Another Chrome user here, jumpsed ship from FF which I used for years. I like the Faster Chrome add on which includes the 'Endless Pages' option. So for instance, on BCF in a multiple page thread, I just scroll to the bottom of the page and the next page loads automatically. No clicking the 'next' button.

use IE mainly at work as thats what i have to develop to support 1st and foremost. but i also have FF, chrome and safari to test on. always make sure my code works on IE and FF.

at home its FF + noscript + firebug

i dont like chrome much, safari is ok but im not interested in using it.

oh and i've got the IE9 beta at home too.. i hate it :/ they've tried to copy chrome and managed to pick all the bits that annoy me about it to put into IE. they've stolen FFs download box too which again is the only thing that annoys me about FF. i dont like that dl box opening all the time.

Hi

Use Opera most of the time. Copes with loads of tabs open at once far better than FF. However often have FF open as well, and not that rare to be using Chrome as well. Have Safari and IE installed as well, but (other than Visual Studio currently defaulting to IE) virtually never use IE.

Chrome isn't bad, but find on an old laptop that we use fairly often when watching TV that it really struggles when you have multiple frames open.

All the best

Keith

Yeah IE 8 is badly written.

I use Firefox with Add, flash and script blocker. It speeds this up a hell of a lot.

Flash blocker https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433
Script blocker https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722
supper add blocker plus. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865
Flash player: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I find there isn't an ideal browser and switch between IE, Firefox and Chrome but none of them are perfect!

Agreed.

I find I use Chrome most of the time.

At work though, I like some of the RSS features that work so much better with Firefox and add-ons (RSS ticker, live bookmarks etc).

I use Opera on my netbook because it is so much better at smaller resolutions.

And there are a few lazy programmers out there, so some websites refuse to work with anything other than IE. Thankfully there aren't too many of these any more.

I still come across some which is why i still have IE in my list.
I do find mostly its inbuilt web services for kit that i need IE for rather than actual web sites on the net.

Found a download a few days ago (manual for TV) that required a plug in that was specific to IE. Real lot of good that was when I was using a Mac.

All the best

I use FF because it is natively supported by my operating system and seems to work fine.

I have also in the past used seamonkey which is very lightweight indeed. The html editor is useful for numpties like me who can't do html, although nowhere near as good as the one on netscape used to be.

Opera because it's cross-platform and proper 64-bit. My bookmarks automatically sync between computers and operating systems. Been using it since version 9 was released so even though it has its niggles I would find it difficult to change now.

No choice but to use IE6 at work

Mainly Firefox at home, although I've also got IE installed too.

Also previously tried Safari and Chrome, but keep going back to FF because it's got the add-ons and upgrades that suit my interests.
