Hmmm... in theory......
But your 1000cc Rotary 16, would, at best, make about as much power as a Stock CBR6 four pot....
But in practice....
The crank journals would have to be about a foot wide to fit thje big ends on.
The cam chain tensioners would be a bit of a bitch to get at..
Alternator arangement would be a bit interesting...
with sixteen CDi units, & the associated ignitior coils....
Hate to try and get the plug caps and coil wiring in the right places too...
Oh, and oil getting past the rings in the inverted barells.... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

8-Way Bumming Machine, sounds like it could be a hit.
The real question, would it be better if it was a 2 stroke or 4 stroke? . ____________________ "Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul."

Its doable I guess |
Does this display my level of depravity..... I looked at that pic and thought:-
"I wonder if you can rotate the engine around the crank, so you can adjust the valve clerances, one bank at a time without having to shift your stool?"
The following thought was:-
"if so... I wonder what noise it would make if you forgot to to the pinch bolts back up, & when you started it up, the engine started spinning like a propeller"
Actually always been fascinated by the radial engine. That one i think is a 7-pot Gnome, fixed cylinder motor.
There was one that had a fixed crank, the pots spinning with the prop. Pretty sure I remember seeing a version where the prop-blades were bolted on the cylinder heads.
Idea of a 2-stroke radial has always apealed, total loss lubrication meaning that they can safely run inverted without the crank-case lube soaking into the inverted pots. Only trouble with the two stroke is the sealed crank-cases per pot, denying the possibility to use a common crank-case and crank journal for all cylinders. I mean, as animation, the crank-case volume doesn't vary enough to use it to 'pump' as a two stroke does, and what little pumping it could do would have to be shared between all cyclinders... unless you super-charged it.....
SO! 16 X5 barels it is then, and a Mini-Cooper supercharger! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Of course they wouldn't....
but you need an odd number of cylinders, so either throw one away or find another one.. so assuming 9 the firing order would be 1,3,5,7,9,2,4,6,8 (or 1,3,5,7,2,4,6 for a 7 cylinder).
The tricky bit is the cam because radials use a ring cam that moves at 1/5 engine speed, not a shaft like inline engines...
So get yourself a master rod...or two...

It's only about 3 1/2in wide,... but almost 30in across...when it has the slave rods attached
