[EDIT] This started with an attempt to draw a bike in CAD in 12 hours, it failed a bit so now it's just my CAD bike project. No particular reason for it, just something to put in my portfolio if I ever happen to need a portfolio

When I get to the cycle parts it'll start looking a lot more inspired. I'm spending far too long on the engine, most bits wont even be seen

5 hours in and still on the motor, getting it done in 12 will be a push me thinks.

Come on, chop chop Mr. Green

Couldn't you have done what most of these custom bike shows do and bought in the engine, frame and wheels and then spent most of your time deciding where to put the oil reservoir, your company logo and designing the artwork?

Must be nice to put a bike together without a torque wrench in sight.

Missed the last one as tinypic didnt upload my picture and by the time I'd realised I was into somthing else. Yeah I spent far far too much time on the engine, and it's not going to get finished, I finally tore myself away halfway through the head. No matter I'll put covers on later, as I should of in the first place

here's the update for an hour ago
https://i51.tinypic.com/33xfneg.jpg
and here's what I did since then

Tristan,

How long did it take you to get up to this sort of standard on Solidworks?

I'm trying to get hold of it myself as I would like to learn it.

Cheers

I've been using it for three and a bit years, but not on a day to day basis. It's a steep learning curve, I found it beyond baffling for the first few hours of use, and if I got anything done it was accidental, but once your past the initial understanding the basic interface everything else builds of the basics

except surface modelling, which can fuck off.

Not even transverse mounted, like Moto Guzzi would do?

Too late for that, nevermind, I'm carrying on, and it just means a bit of a cutout in the frame, but a big chunky frame was gonna be one of the styling points, nevermind. Heres another update. The worlds tackiest wheel

it is indeed single sided. I'm doing that mechanism next, then sorting out the frame and probably ditching the engine. engine is 8*8 bore and stroke, so about 800cc

I fail. I'm hungry and am going home

https://tinypic.com/r/2zs1zx3/7
a video of what I got done

Plan for later is to scrap that engine and replace it with a 2 stroke single which'll fit much better
