I went out today also, on my cg125. I guess small bikes are better in the snow
Most of the roads were clear from other traffic.
I didnt try *riding* up or down any snowy hills. The couple I had to go through I decided its better to walk it up, with it in 1st. Much easier with feet properly on ground.
I did drop it though, stopping at a junction, on a hill, as I put my feet down I toppled over. My mirror and footpeg is bent but thats all....
***I will ride in snow like this, and the melted slush is ok, but when it starts to freeze and turns to ice, that will be too much risk for me. |

The way I did it was keeping my feet down most if not all of the time, slipping the clutch a fair bit and not giving the bike enough beans to let the back wheel spin easily (easy on the H as it hasn't much power below about 4500rpm, probably much the same on the RXS) and let it stall rather than chuck you off.
Once I was going I just rode very gently, up the gears before I hit the power band, and looked well ahead, stopped without using the brakes at all and planning ahead more than usual so at least 4 seconds behind the car in front.
Also looking at your pic I would carry less stuff, and carry it on your back rather than in your panniers/top box, taking away as much weight as possible. ____________________ H100 Breaking for spares |

I was doing the same thing, I guess the lack of cars that had used the roads since it started snowing didn't help. Even going straight it constantly felt like the front was about to fall over...

Only thing I was carrying was my little tankbag come tailpack and it only had a couple of spanners in it. The 'pannier' is my helmet covered in snow ____________________ Riding: BMW R1150RT `02 bought mildly crashed

I rode from Medway to east Sussex and back yesterday in what can best be described as Antarctic conditions. I was half expecting to see Ranulph Fiennes appear at any moment leading a team of huskies It was a bit hair raising, for sure. But the old RXS soldiered on as ever. The buses and trains were off in places, so Yam 1 Public Transport 0 ____________________ The RXS100: vehicle of choice for Chuck Norris |

On tuesday night I went footy. When I got back to my bit at abot 11PM I couldn't control the bike so well because most of the road was iced up.
However I am cycling it to work now. Even on the bicycle the back wheel is spinning tbough, it's the ice underneath that is a problem in London, not enough to cars on smaller roads to melt it, and enough cars that it's been grounded down and not pure snow. ____________________ Hit the G spot. |

When I see that sort of thing I just think idiot. Not big, not funny and definitely not clever. Do that with a car coming in the opposite direction and it'll be a lot worse. |
