If it is iced up, perhaps take a hair dryer to the cable? Should help loosen it up a bit i would have thought
Dont suppose you've ever lubed the cable? Could be an idea, i've never done it myself but if you use the clutch when its 'solid' like it is now, it WILL snap eventually. I should know, i had this on my 125. Its not particulary fun riding in the middle of town with no clutch i tell ye! ____________________ First bike: 1982 Suzuki Gs 125 'The beast MK1' > 1988 Honda Cb 350's' FOR SPORT! recently, due to the weather being on a bastardly-cold level and my garage having the insulating skills of an injured pidgeon , my clutch has started to stick fully outwards. I can manage to squeeze it in with a bit of force, but then it doesn't spring back out.
i think it's probably to do with it being cold and the lubrication freezing, could be wrong though.
just want to know if it is what i suspect and how to overcome it, are there any blankets or anti-freeze stuff that i could buy to stop it happening? |
When I were a nipper my dad had a paraffin "sump heater", similar to this:-

You filled it up, lit it and let it burn under your car overnight in cold weather. Surpised there weren't more garage fires to be honest.
Apparently they did the the trick! You could leave one burning in your garage, not neccessarily under your bike, it would keep the frost out! |

Blimey, didn't know they still did them, I had one under my Vauxhall Victor the last time it was this cold (about 1978)
As you say, surprised it didn't set the car alight.
