Well the debates have been done to death about Hyo, and everybody saying they are Chinese or cheap rip off's of Suzuki, bit here is abit of proof that they are actually good bikes and are well up there with the rest of them.
It maybe be a small achievement but still, progress is progress.

And Lancias were great cars, as long as you wheeled them into the back of a truck and rebuilt them every night with rally spec parts.
Are those stock classes? Does that bike bear any relation to the GT650R that rolls out of the factory?
That's a genuine question - I'm open minded about Hyosungs, but being able to produce one good bike doesn't say anything about their ability to make every bike to that standard. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

aren't they Malaysian or something?
anyway, i think they are definitely the best of a bad bunch and the nearest thing pacific rim/chinese are producing. the 125 and 250 are great (sound good with a can) and look like proper bikes. fair enough they aren't the quickest meerkat in the desert but they look good. ____________________

Mr Warped...... According to your avatar/profile, you own one?.
So tell us how is it to own one?
Has it broken down a lot?
Can you get spares?
Is it as quick as Jap bikes of the same cc?
What`s the build quality like?
Does it handle well?
Do people point at you cos you`re riding a Hyosung ____________________ I am the sum total of my own existence, what went before makes me who I am now! |

650 is the largest model of them till now. I'm curious when they will make over 1000cc model? I think manufacturing large models is important for progress.
Samsung is a world leading company in electronics and forever rival of Japon hard to beat it. Hyosung is like Japan of 10 years ago. Very different imo. ____________________ own:2020 Serow 250

I have one, the 125 one! Its a 56 Reg with 17,000 miles on it, i purchased it back in 2008 with 1090 miles on it.
In the 2 years i have owned it, it has had the following problems.
Corroded main ignition wire, this was due to loads of crap from the front wheel, fender extender and tying the wire out of the way of the spray.
Faulty side stand switch, bypassed and never had a fault from it.
Dropped on the side, air box lugs snapped off so wasn't sat on the Carb right, so dodgy running.
Swing arm pain peeling.
Down pipes are mild steel crap.
However, it starts on the button, handles well and sounds good and has been a fantastic commuter. I'm just hoping te 500 cc twin i replace it with in spring time will be as good. ____________________ JACK, MISS YOU LOADS YOU LEGEND. |

I own a 2006 Hyosung GT 250 with 6000 miles on the clock and it is a pleasure to own. I commute on it all year and it has never failed to start or even complained about being ridden.
Spares are easy to get, you can either buy from UK dealers or do as I do and buy from Hyosungsource.com who are in South Korea and 50% cheaper. Takes 5 days to arrive.
250 V - Twin has plenty of grunt for commuting and is rather good on fuel.
Build quality is up there with Suzuki and Kawasaki.
The bike handles really well for a commuter, it inspires confidence in your riding especially with my new tyres.
THe usual response from people is that it is a very nice looking bike and they can't believe it's a 125 / 250 V Twin.
I would definatly recommend owning one and would condsider one amonst the main brands if I was buying a new bike. ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |

Good bikes when they are running ok.
Has it broken down a lot?
Yes, many times.
Can you get spares?
Yes, but hard to get a hold of and are very expensive.
Is it as quick as Jap bikes of the same cc?
Depends on the bike I suppose.
What`s the build quality like?
Decent-ish, however my GTRs were fairly new at the time.
Does it handle well?
Yes.
Do people point at you cos you`re riding a Hyosung
I hope not.

I had one, fair enough it was a 125 GT Comet, but served me well. Wasn't the fastest of 125's but didn't have any reliability issues with it ____________________ My Project - Honda CBR 600 F2/FM |

So tell us how is it to own one?
I love my GT, it took 25,000mile of pure abuse and still wanted more.
Has it broken down a lot?
Currently the engine is in rebuild, but that was because when I knew I was going to loose my license I just gave up looking after it, and totally wrecked it, through negligence.
Can you get spares?
I have friends in America, so any parts I need are ordered though them, but generally if I go to a dealership they come within the week.
Is it as quick as Jap bikes of the same cc?
If been compaired to the SV650, it pisses all over it. The handling is heavy but I like it, but in a straight drag race with my mate he had no chance.
What`s the build quality like?
I rode mine though 2winters with no protection, never washed and I can honestly say it has held up well, the rst problems that you hear of are from people who leave them outside all the time and what not. Mine was stored in a garage overnight and ridden everyday rain, shine, or snow. I have slung it down the road more times than I care to say and have always picked it up and it started first time.
Does it handle well?
Like I said earlier, the handling is heavy, but once your used to it, it is easy to ride. I regularly out rode my mate on his SV with my ex on the back. The forks are quite tricky to dial in, because if you don't have it right the bike will just stand up, and go straight on.
Do people point at you cos you`re riding a Hyosung
People generally are inquisitive about them. Mainly asking questions like what you just have. I never had anyone point and laugh or anything bad.
The bike in the picture has had a fair bit of fettling, from 25mm fork inserts, to uprated brakes, but as far as I know it hasn't had much engine work done to it.
There are a few people on their that race Hyo, and have had good results. They seem to be able to beat the SV with little modification. Whilst they are running GSXR front ends and such.
Qucik factoid: Hyo GT650 Out sold the R! last year in Aus.
It is all little steps, but they are making progress. The main problem with them and their rep is Barrus who imports them, they just don't want to know. Last year MotoUnion was wanting to take one to IOM TT but they just weren't interested. I think it would be good to see how they preform there. ____________________ amnesia - Never in the history of usernames has one been more accurate. Warped indeed. You sir are a fecking oddball. |
