Looking at getting a bigger bike now a bit run down and doing it up ready for the winter as a little summer project. It will have to be restricted.

Seen some restrictors on the net but there is no picture and the description isn't exactly in depth.

Can you get dodgy ones?

And how do they hold themselves in place? Are there little grooves in the rubbers? Or are they so tight they are sort of held in?

Will the carbs need adjusting with the restrictors fitted? Will an exhaust affect this?

Cheers guys Thumbs Up

Ah not quite Laughing

I read somewhere recently (I think on here) that you can make a kit using stuff from B&Q

EDIT: Oh an my 'official FI kit' was 4 washers and a screw

Yeah. On that blokes thread who had a 400 cruiser kwak or something? But its not made for it so I would rather stick with what I know will fit and do the job...

(How much you selling it for?)

Don't buy FI crap its a waste of time and money and if anyone turns around and says 'you need the cirtificate' then your wrong Laughing

Basically, you can go a few routes and depending on the bike you get I would recommend different things.

You can make yourself some sort of throttle stop. I have done this on my Fazer atm with a wire crimp Laughing. It basically stops the throttle cable from being able to travel up into the cable follower thingy, limiting me to a little more than a 3rd throttle.

You can get some washers that sit between the carbs and the inlet rubbers like so: (stolen from another BCF thread linked below!)

Hope that helps!

I'll read that thread later, cheers Dom! Karma

I am aware of a throttle stop but I like to hear my engine scream so I don't fancy that route. Will definately be going for washers. Just wondered how secure they were? And Can you get 'dodgy' ones?

(maybe they break down into the engine cos its shitty metal or they are the wrong size?)

It says they are Alpha Tecnic if that means anything? Do you want a link? Just didnt want to put it on here in case someone else bids on it Laughing

Same company that makes the FI kits, on the FI Kit it has their logo at the top and stamp on the washer I think.

(Sale price is about x3 what you want to spend - not 100% sure if I am though)

Depends on the bike but I have found the Fazer will pull to the redline with the throttle stop but wouldn't with the washers. With the washers all power was lst above 6k and it really struggled to pull past 8k.

You can't really get dodgey ones, as long as they aren't steel your good as the steel will rust. They are also thick enough that they cant just disintegrate Wink

Just go to B&Q and buy some repair washers and drill the hole to whatever size you need!

They have to be for one or the other. GPZ puts out more power than the ER5 so they use different restrictors.

To make yourself the washers for the Bandit, go to B&Q and buy yourself some 38mm repair washers (as thin as possible... 1mm is best)

Drill out the hole so its off centre like below and is 15.5mm in diameter.

There ya have it Wink

Citation needed. Do you know the dimensions of the FI ones for both bikes?
