My brake light doesn't seem to be working.

It's always on, but when I pull in either brake levers it doesn't get brighter.

Put in a new battery the other week, so it can't be that.

Any ideas?

Thanks Thumbs Up

Hi, have you checked the micro switches for operation? You should be able to hear a little click when you pull the lever in.

Fingers crossed it's just the one side that's stuck in (by the sounds of it) and won't click (since it's already in) and you know where the fault lies.

Hi

In addition to what Chriss says, first thing to check is whether it is stuck on or not.

When you say the light is always on, is just just the tail light or is it the brake light?

All the best

Keith

Ah sorry about that, it's the tail light that's always on.

It was a common problem on my blade with a faulty brake light switch. It's usually mounted under your handlebar. Remove the switch and run a multimeter across the terminals on the loom. If you get continuity, you're fine. Then do the same check on the contacts on the switch. If it's giving a nil reading, then get yourself onto www.wemoto.com and order yourself a new brake light switch! They deliver within 2-3 working days. It happened twice on my bike. So when I popped off the switch to investigate, I saw lots of green copper oxide inside the mechanism so I instantly knew why it wouldn't work. It's very easy for water to get into the switch. The rear brake light switch is usually protected by a rubber boot so doesn't succumb to it as much.

Not on a moped (I had to Google what sort of bike it was first to be fair.)

The bulb seems to be stuck inside the socket.

Before being able to take the bulb out, you have to line up these two bits on the bulb with the two holes on the socket. Well, it won't move whatever I do.

This happened to one of my indicators and I ended up snapping half the bulb off.

Any ideas on how to get the bulb out?

Do you have a picture of it? I would have expected it to be a bayonet connector.

Is this it here? If so, push gently and twist. Also, have you changed the bulb recently? I once managed to put one in the wrong way, and so the brake light was permanently lit.
