Hey all
Just started commuting into London, around 40-50 miles a day.
I'm currently using my 2 piece berik leathers and a cheap back pack.
I'm after a 2 piece protective clothing that's waterproof, lightweight, breathable, not too clunky.....am I asking too much?
Also after a decent backpack to use, normal size will do, don't carry alot but just needs to be waterproof really and easy on the back if possible?
Any ideas?

My advice, don't go cheap. Back when I started I bought Frank Thomas stuff at the lower end. A year later I bought a 2 piece Gore-Tex Dianese suit, not cheap but I figure I use it nearly every day and have done for a few years now. The quality was worth every penny. ____________________ Current: '07 Suzuki SV1000 & '07 Honda SH300i (again).

Thanks for the replies.
I think I'll take your advice Coxy and get something like Dianese as my Berik leathers are 4 years old now with every weather use and they've lasted no problems.

If you're hell bent on new gear: www.getgeared.co.uk
I always go there at least for a browse around to see what's available.
For waterproofing, they've got some MIRACLE working foam. Daytona waterproofing something or other it's called. It's about a tenner or so for a 400ml can. Expensive but well worth it.
It turned my leathers and textiles from sponges into nice and waterproof. They used to leave me soaking wet within ten mins of light rain to ones that survived the M6 for an hour in heavy rain at about 70-75 without leakage. Even gear that's blatantly not waterproof is pretty decent after treatment: Jacket, boots, gloves, trousers, probably even your neck warmer .
Hope this helps

Ooop missed these replies.
Clanger, could say that about 80% of threads on here. I was asking for opinions. I could google waterproof jacket and it would bring up alot but I wouldn't know which are good unless I had a few opinions on them.....
Thanks Rowey could be the an option, wouldn't mind a set of them as they are compact. I'll try there cheers.
Thanks Willson I'll take a look at the foam as a possibility just incase I get caught in the rain without the right gear on!

Only bought one set of gear so far, but I've found my supposedly waterproof Frank Thomas trousers are really good at keeping me dry, except for the bit you're sitting on! Arriving anywhere with a wet ass and having to change trousers & underwear is not my idea of fun ____________________ First bike: 2002 CG. Now riding lime green 2008 ER6N. |

i got mine from my local bike shop bikestop in stevenage really helpfull guys they ahve a LITTLE bit of movement on the sticker prices and then i managed to wangle a 10% discount overall which i put down to playing rugby with the guy who was serving me for years
the jacket is the best bit really as its quite understated as a bike jacket and the armour is so easy to remove i have worn it several times as just a coat .. |
