Thanks

Couple of hundred pounds for an FI International kit. A few pence if you know the measurements of the inlet washers you need.

The dimensions for the washers are in this thread, the bike is the same model but a few years older i think.

Inlet washers still work on FI bikes.

My Mille had them.

Why? engine needs fuel/air to burn to produce power, if you cannot get as much fuel/air into the cylinder you get less power, hence restricting washers, they restrict the air and consequently fuel flow, wether its through a carb or a throttle body its still less fuel/air to burn to less power.

I thought they mixed air/fuel via another way, I guess I don't really know, some alien way! I know how the restrictors worked, I just thought as above.

I'm with Benson here, its confusing haha.

How does FI actually work? Surely if you restrict the air the same amount of fuel goes through? I know google is my friend but how does the fuel get from the tank into the combustion chamber(s)?

I saw some restrictors for an sv on ebay the other day and it had washers and a throttle stop...

I thought you couldn't restrict FI like that, indeed you do learn something new everyday Thumbs Up

I suspect that inlet washers on an FI bike without a throttle stop would work poorly as the amount of fuel and air is controlled separately in an FI bike. If it was just inlet washers then the air would be limited but fuel is controlled by the ECU based on a few things (i.e. the throttle position sensor) so would be pumped in at a normal rate = uber rich and probably not running.

A throttle stop and inlet washers is how it is achieved in overpriced kits for this bike although I do recall a thread somewhere where someone was trying to remove an ECU restriction, I think this was a factory 33bhp restriction rather than aftermarket though.
