my ts 50 has been playing up a lot

it now pushes forward in gear

you can push the bike forward without the clutch pulled in and it just rolls easily - the engine does turn over when pushing - is this because of the piston and rings

also i have snapped a stud, the 4 long studs from the bottom end which the barrel and head go on - 1 has snapped, how can i get it out it was really tight is there a tool i can use

thanks

You sounds like a young lad that doens't know ANYTHING about bikes, tbh I don't trust giving you advice to fix it yourself, go see a garage.

Get 2 nuts and put them on the stud. Undo the bottom one and do up the top one biting the two onto each other really hard. You can then use the bottom one to undo the stud.

If in gear the engine should turn over when pushed.

Think he means it rolls quite easily in gear, as if theres no resistance or compression at all.
In which case, don't look at it yourself mate. You don't sound qualified to use a keyboard let alone touch the engine Thumbs Up

The fact it can be pushyed in gear and not 'stop' is worrying. I'd guess something simple like the insides of the engine being damaged. Get it to a garage.

@ Frost, you mean in a bump-start fashion yeah?

Wardy mate there are a lot of people here can help you but you but it sounds like you're really struggling with basic mechainical principles.

Firstly - the broken cylinder stud. Put up a photo of it. DON'T try to turn it with pliers or mole grips or anything else.

The problem of being able to push the bike forward in gear is probably linked to the broken stud. With the stud broken you're probably losing compression from your cylinder head.

Where are you? It might be there's someone nearby who can take pity on you and pop round for a look but you don't list your location in your profile.

the stud has completly snapped right at the bottom so there is no were to wind a nut on or even grab with pliers

and when i say it pushes and turns over i mean it easily pushes no resistance at all as if the head wasnt on

So when you say it's snapped off flush, is that flush with the head or the crank case? Basically how much came off it when it snapped? In inch or so, or 6 inches or so?

It'll be at the cases. Sod's law always applies in these events.

Well he's saying it pushes like the head isn't on, which makes me think he's baffled because the head is on, in which case the barrel is too, so the stud might be snapped flush with that.

I'd be tempted to buy an engine off ebay rather than pay a mechanic to sort it all out at the bloody rates they charge!

Considering he was having trouble with the clutch

https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=225966

it sounds possible, despite what he says, that even though the clutch lever is out the clutch might not be engaging.

You obviously don't know much about engines. Post some pics so people can help.

He clearly has no mechanical knowledge tho. Neutral
