Thread title says it all really, my baby's poorly , had it looked at, & apparently the stsrter clutch is the problem. Going to try and keep off it because bump starting it can't be good for it, plus it's bloody heavy!!
Any help greatly appreciated.

I'll fully admit to not being the most mechanical headed fellow just yet, but it was definitely the starter clutch I was told to look for. If you don't recommend 2nd hand mate, have you a link to anywhere I can get a new one from? Cheers again for your help. ____________________ Woe to you, o earth & sea, for the devil sends the beast with wrath............

Have had a poke around Google and have found an link to an old eBay auction for a starter clutch for a CBR600 so they are real parts, might be best to talk to a Honda dealer to find out firstly how much they cost new and if they are normally called starter clutch just tell him that you've been told you need one and havn't ever heard of them before. Think it might be the bit that engine connects to the starter motor to start the bike. |

Centrifugal clutches are automatic clutches, as the clutch rotates faster the clutch pads spin out further (they are held inwards by springs) and grip the clutch drum and provide the power like a normal clutch then. Have a read of this guide to centrifugal clutches if you want to know more, it is about minimoto ones but centrifugal clutches are the still the same on any bike which has one. |

Yeah I know how they work, that's why I was confused about a CBR600 using one, but now you've cleared it up, it's the starter clutch
MX/supermoto's commonly use these, my mate races an XR650 which has a centrifugal clutch, not sure how it works really with engaging it etc, he just gets on and rides off, no clutch!
Seen quite a few KTM's running these too. ____________________ Current Toys: 06 Yamaha WR250F | Nissan 350Z GT | Tech 4 Homes |
