Hi guys i am still having trouble fixing up my Gilera Stalker 50cc.

I have recently done a top end rebuild on the engine after the barrel was scrached by the piston. since i have done this i have had problems starting the engine, and when it does start it will only tick over, once you try and rev it up it cuts out/stalls.

i have checked the carb, reed, spark plug, battery drive belt the works.

I just cannot work out why it wont run normally and really need some help if possible

Have you checked the seal on the manifold between the carb and the engine? It sounds as if you have an air leak.

To check start the engine up with the back wheel in the air (since its an automatic) and spray some wd40 around the manifold. If the engine revs up when you do this you have an airleak. This is not an entirely conclusive test but if it works then its a nice simple way to see if you have an air leak.

Making sure the air box is properly connected could be your answer, sometimes when you put them back on its easy to not do it properly :S

So called "Sports" Filters are often not worth the hassle on a nearly stock moped. Put back the original airbox.

When you fitted the air filter did you upjet? If so then re-fit the original jet and return the carb to stock settings.

i tried that i had a 60 jet in it and it worked a bit better than the 55 original. it worked fine before the barrel scrached its since i repaired it it hasnt worked.

I have got a zx exhaust & 4g rollers on and they have never caused a problem the original airbox is on it at the moment and i cant get the bike started at all

Are you sure you have the basics? Oil, Spark, Fuel, Air and Compression?

If you've just done a top end rebuild then id check your compression.

Oh, and if you've got a so called "sports" exhaust then you need to fit a bigger jet anyway.
