I just took my bike to get some petrol brimmed as usual, got half way down the road and it started to loose power, i kept giving it throttle but nothing.

I came to a stop and the bike cut out. I tryed starting it again but as soon and it starts up i give it throttle and then just dies.

i dont know why its doing this but it started fine when i got it out my shed to get petrol but soon as i filled it up it dont seem to be having none of it

any ideas ?

Defo petrol not biodiesel/diesel?

Might be worth a quick carb clean, might have disturbed some shit in the tank. Check the fuel filter Thumbs Up

Definitely first thoughts is petrol issues as right after a fillup - might also be worth double-checking the air-intake is clear, as that was the issue when I had a similar problem on my bike.

It's fine, just take the tank off, empty the diesel into a container and fill with petrol.

Might take some serious starting but it might fire up Laughing Also, I don't mind you giving me the diesel.. new car is diesel and its expensive. Laughing

I think they smell different personally... got diesel on hands this morning and it smells different to when I splash petrol on myself.

Diesel is also very oily, dip a finger in and rub it between two fingers, if it is greasy and oily it is diesel. If it is thin and makes your fingers cold as it evaporates it is petrol.

I'd drain the tank, drain the carb and refill with petrol. Should start eventually and you should get away without having damaged anything, will be a bit smokey at first.

Diesel in a petrol is no big deal.

As others have said, drain and re fill.

It'll go eventually.

On the up side you don't have fuel injection so it can't mess up injectors, will just need to clean the carb and just drain it out Smile

A good mate put diesel in his VFR, drained the tank, as much as we could, and fired her up, smoked real bad but it went in the end, dont kick to start the bike kick it to prime it, try get as much diesel out as you can.

Maybe take the plugs out and clean them.

If you have a fuel filter bin it and get a new one.

There should be no lasting effects once it gets going.

Drain the float bowl if you haven't already done so. Let it run until petrol comes out. Take out the plug and get the earth strap (tip) glowing red hot on your gas stove. Then it should start.

Car battery might be too much for the bike, could do some real damage.

Rubbish. 12V is 12V, no matter what size the battery.

Is that a new hobby, or something you've been doing for a while? You know you could just collect stamps...it's less combustible, but you won't have to wash your clothes as often. Very Happy
