here in france barrel=£100 , piston+rings £80 , seals £20 , plus 3 hours labour at about £25 each , total £300 approx. and i presume it's about the same in UK

Hi

Doubt it has holed the piston. Overheating followed by "smoking" would suggest to me that the head gasket has failed. Check the level of the coolant in the engine / radiator.

However if this is the case then the parts needed are likely to be the same as for a holed piston, just that you might need to replace the head (or get it skimmed flat again) as well.

All the best

Keith

take off the thermostat , fill the circuit with distilled water and drive for a while . then check water level , if no overheating then change thermostat (obviously if your engine is not down)

Hi

You could stick one of the Malossi kits on. Think they pretty much bolt straight on but might well need the jetting playing with. Cost more than a standard barrel from David Silver Spares.

All the best

Keith

Because it will go bang Smile doubt the money spent is worth the tiny increase in power anyway Confused

Just go with a normal top end Smile

Barrel and piston
Piston rings
small end bearing
Head and exhaust studs
head gasket
base gasket
2 circlips
RC valve seal

Think that is everything you need Smile
