Yes you need an atx one. The main board connector is the same, but modern PSU's will come with some extra connectors you don't need. Check if it comes with the old style chunky hard drive power connectors and not the smaller SATA ones.
Most come with both, or converters.

My last psu was a 750w CiT, OK so it only lasted 4 years with the PC being switched off for a total of 4-5 nights in the whole 4 years, the rest of the time it was worked hard.... and that cost me about £30-40. But thanks for the advice there carvell, I'll remember in future to buy a lower powered branded one that probably wouldn't even get close to starting my system.... |

500W V2 Silent Power Supply
£18.98 inc VAT
Job done. 500w is way more than you'll ever need. If you're running a PC from 2003 then even if you do upgrade chances are you'll buy something low spec in which case you can reuse that power supply in your new system. Or you'll probably just buy some pre-made system in which case it doesn't matter |
It's just cheap crap though.
I have a brand new OCZ ZS 550W PSU (still sealed - was a replacement). Still has warranty and receipt etc.
PM me if you're interested. ____________________ 2009 Yamaha YBR125 -> 2000 SV650S -> 2005 Kawasaki ZX6R 636 |

you have to run at least 2 of these in a 9 year old PC seeing as they they need power per flops of processing power, so putting a big PSU in it you can make even more powerful ____________________ Current rides - 2016 Triumph Street Triple Rx, 1994 Suzuki Bandit 400 VM, TGB 204 Classic 125cc

It was an eBay thing as far as I can tell, and yes, totally agreed with the whole shooting their faces off thing. I had to grit my teeth many a time when people commented on that at work ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |
