Bike wont start!!!!!!

Hi, i have a 2007 honda cg, and it wont start. When i turn on the ignition and try to start it all i get is the sound that it makes trying to start. i have absolutly no idea what the problem is.

yeah it has got fuel, the spark plug shouldnt be wet as i havent taken the little cover thing off it and how do i check to see if it sparking?

What i mean is when you remove the spark plug from the engine does it have fuel on it?
To see if it has a spark, remove the plug, fit the spark plug cap and earth the threads on any metal part of the bike (engine) then press the elctric start button, you should see a bright blue spark.

Check the kill switch.

Is the fuel tap on? Unless you're 100% sure that there's plenty of fuel, set it to reserve.

Crank the bike.

Remove the spark plug. You'll need a deep socket - there may be one in your bike's tool kit.

Sniff the tip - do you smell fuel. Look at the colour of the tip and compare it to this chart.

Re-attach the HT lead to the spark plug. Hold the plug firmly against the engine using insulated pliers (I don't think it goes without saying in this case).

Crank the engine again. Look for a spark at the end of the plug.

Sniff the plug hole. Can you smell fuel?

Bet it's the kill switch though. Wink

battery on the way out?

Fuel tank got petrol?

Check for spark as others have said, you have to work in a logical fashion!

As sir likes, but I've been shocked by complacency and a dodgy cap before. Now I used insulated pliers - or at least rubberised gloves - on the cap.

Given the tone of the OP's post, I'd rather that he was over- rather than under-cautious - remember, there's something wrong with the bike.
