This will mostly be a tale of frustration and spiralling costs, although I am trying to keep the costs down as much as possible.
It started with my first bike bike, the Yamaha Thundercat YZF600R and ended with two crashes a bus crushing the remains being stolen, abandoned and recovered.
It started out its life with me looking like this

but unfortunately that did not last.... ____________________ Pitslayer wrote "it could be Ndubz.....ruining this once great place with donkey gobbling loafer knobbing "music".

The bike has currently been sitting in a garden untouched for a year and a half so I guess the time has finally come to do something with it. I am not going to get fairings back on it as the value of the bike hardly warrants even a 350 quid set of chinese plastics, so post crash naked it is
So far in the last couple of days I have managed to get it to start by fixing some wiring that appeared to have been chewed and hooking up the battery from the zx6r

Not sure my inlaws neighbours were loving the un silenced goodness but who cares!
P.S the smoke coming off the front end is some oil I rubbed on the headers and exhaust studs a year ago when I realised that it might be there a while, is it bad that a spray of black/brown water came out when it finally started?! ____________________ Pitslayer wrote "it could be Ndubz.....ruining this once great place with donkey gobbling loafer knobbing "music".

Fuck it, I just wrote loads and it disappeared so you are gonna get a cut down version,
https://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/2012-06-09192134.jpg
spare fzr yokes/risers sprayed badly with left over high temp paint and matt lacquer. Renthal ultra lows on the way from busters.
Carbon stubby and link pipe on the way from ebay as my link pipe was kindly crushed by an altogether sepearate bus than the one that ran me over
received a twin square headlight off ebay as seen on CHR15's old bike.
need to decide on colour scheme, current favourites are matt metallic orange frame with orange pinstripes on white bodywork or gloss black with matt gold detailing. Any photo-shops or suggestions welcome.
Pondering making a one off tail fairing utilising the stock comfy twin seat but reducing lardyness and massive boat sized under tray.
Also need to make some sort of new ram air scoops to replace the ridiculous looking oem system hidden away under the fairings. All examples of un faired cats I've seen seem to be in AUS or US where covering your gaping hole with a bit of foam or grill to keep insects/kangaroos/bears out is fine. However I have a feeling that high speed ramming of murky English rain into your engine is not entirely desirable. ____________________ Pitslayer wrote "it could be Ndubz.....ruining this once great place with donkey gobbling loafer knobbing "music".

Also forgot to mention that removing locks from the old yoke was an absolute nightmare of a long arsed grinding session last night. Had I known it would take this long I would have just drilled holes in my own yoke instead of keeping it in case i want to go back to clip ons.
However, I cleaned up the ignition and used a pendant drill to polish out the scratches in the plastic round the keyhole so that the text could be read again.

happy delivery day!
although the stator cover will need a fair bit of work as its been badly welded by its previous owner but is still in less pieces than mine! ____________________ Pitslayer wrote "it could be Ndubz.....ruining this once great place with donkey gobbling loafer knobbing "music".

wd40.. and leave it to soak for days !
I snapped one on the duke a few weeks ago changing a gasket, if you take a socket which is smaller then the threads of the studs (if you got enough bite on it) smash the socket on to the stud and then slowly ratchet it out...only after soaking the studs for yonks, maybe even heating it up a bit to help it...
Go easy otherwise its drill,easy-outs or re-tap :/ ____________________ Ducati 916,white framed corse replica https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=239309
