down gear it, -1 on the front and change from first to second with clutch lifts the front, would come up with a tug. just note your speedo will read wrong ____________________ was: derbi senda, aprilia sx125, nsr250 mc16, cagiva mito, cb600 hornet now: mk1 bandit, KR1S, landrover series 3 light weight 2.5 petrol, 5speed box |

Not interested in down gearing, just wondered if there was something I was doing wrong in second.
Will just keep with my occasionally mediocre ones in first ____________________ Bikes Past: Yamaha Aerox (sold) Yamaha R125 (written off)

accelerate to about 20, pull the clutch in, throttle to about 10k and then drop the clutch.
cover the back brake.

What about a GS500? Nuff power or not?
I had a crack at it a few times, 2nd gear, 4k shut the throttle and smashing it full open. Front felt light but it diddnt lift & jolted bad. Tryed 1st gear, 6k, dip clutch, pin it & smash clutch out hard and did pretty much the same thing, maybe jolted a bit more violently.
YBR i could get shit wheelies off the line if i snapped the clutch out at about 8k in 1st sitting half on the back seat, but couldnt hold em or get it to clutch up when rolling at all
Wondering if its down to my personal fitness as i've got no upper body strength whatsoever, perhaps i need to physicly pull the front end off the deck?? Enlighten me!! ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Can't tell if it's on stock gearing in that video but they can be lifted albeit with a bit of persuasion, only managed to get any decent lift on mine with the topbox on the back and some considerable weight within, roll on from 10mph at maybe 2k dumped clutch at 9ish I think.
MZ on the other hand before I fitted flat bars wheelied a treat just a shame it is a little heavy and power does run out a little quick. ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

Was thinking about downgearing it as it goes, given it's done all its going to do in 4th-5th anyway. Drop two on the front or put more on the back though? All the stunt bikes i see have HUGE rear sprockets & claim to run standard fronts. Is this a visible bling thing or is there meaning behind the madness?
Regarding that video, how the feck is the engine even running still? Surely holding it up on that bar thing is going to pull all the oil away from the pickup? ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Bet it would wheelie in 2nd, accelerate quite hard and as you hit around 40mph pop the clutch and give it some more throttle as you do it. When you get used to it you will be able judge how much throttle you need as you clutch it up at different revs. Sitting back helps and don't lean into the wheelie when it comes up.
Loads of stuff on here about wheelies, use the search... ____________________ Thundersport Pre-National Sport 600 2014 #92

That video is as good as I'd like to get, I don't want to be on the balancing point holding it for miles, it would be awesome but it's not going to happen
I've had it run out of revs a few times but when it feels too high I chop the throttle. Will try and set up a camera so I can see what's going on a bit better, and if they are any good ill upload them ____________________ Bikes Past: Yamaha Aerox (sold) Yamaha R125 (written off)

What I've been doing is working out how high it gets before it feels super light.
If you ride along in 1st to about 5k, slip with clutch (don't pull it all the way... just enough to add the revs without increasing too much speed) pop it to somewhere around 10k and burst the power on... give it an initial surge and then be soft with it.
I can get mine going from about 10mph to the rev limiter on the power with it not at the balance point (probably far from) but it does the whole gear
Get somewhere quiet with a friend, last thing you want is to lose control alone.. |

Some people are just plain good at this stuff, I live in hope.
This is the sole reason I would like something like a DRZ or YZ450F... wheelies are relatively easy, you drop it there is a few scratches and maybe a bar end. |
