Depends how close it is the the exhaust, the end can will get to about 250-300C, I think hair straighteners are about 200C and that heat mat thing has no useful info. Obviously if its a fair way from the exhaust then they will probably be fine. ____________________ Current Bikes:Honda 929RR Fireblade, Honda CD200 Benly (Project), Stomp Z2 140

I have a silicone mat from lakeland that sits in the bottom of my oven all the time to catch anything that boils over.
Best thing is a carbon exhaust because they don't get hot enough to melt the fabric but that won't work well on a virago.
The silicone will stop the saddlebag melting if it touches the exhaust but it WILL eventually conduct the heat through to the contents of the bag if the bag is resting on it.
That said, looking at pictures of 535s, the panniers should finish up behind where the exhaust finishes anyway. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I use silicon baking pans/trays in the oven. No idea how hot an exhaust gets but the oven does at least 220 degrees and no hint of my silicon going floppy or bubbling
Should be ok for an exhaust shield. |
