cb125 rebuild - Bit upset

Hi all,

I received my parts from wemoto, and am disappointed really.

I would have thought that a piston kit, being bought for a twin would come with both pistons, it did not. Now the site isn't showing the 0.75 oversize pistons for sale anymore, and im sat here with one piston??

Also still need to know what parts to buy for the rear suspension linkage, or ill end up buying the wrong bits no doubt.

Is there any downpipes going for sale at all for a cb125 i could really do with some

My carb rubbers are also shot to hell, but i know i cant get these, so ill have to try and find something similar.

used paul smeeton before a bit on the pricy side but good service from them

i have also looked into carb rubbers there are a few possibilitys of potential matches but cb ones are like rocking horse 5h1t

the image of that exhaust on the link is for the earlier 't' model cb125 the superdream exhaust is slightly shorter (i think) and is slightly upswept in appearance.

if your looking for some downpipes for a 2-1 motad system i have 2 sets for sale im NOT a fan of the 2-1 systems and will be going for some chinese 2-2 exhausts when im near completion

as for INLET RUBBERS make that 3 of us looking ...... so far.
i actually have a mint set on the one bike and a not so bad set on the one im building, then i have 2 sets that are fooked

i might be able to help with the rear linkage issues but depends who gets there first

they are jialing chinese parts but i have bought and fitted a set myself to my cb125 and am very pleased with them.
you do HOWEVER have to buy BOTH parts as they only fit one and other. i bought some swingarm sleeves too and they fitted.
if you check through the jh 125 33 parts from 'brooksbarn' they give measurements on most parts so you can check and compare your honda parts.

Just for a laugh, this is what im dealing with for carb rubbers, its been like this for 2000 miles, and i have to re repair it nearly every week now, its painfull starting it in a morning, but once its been repaired it does work for a while, then suddenly just opens right back up again lol

I know all my problems stem from the exhaust and rubbers being fooked, but i also know that when i got it the rings and pistons looked ok, but as i said, one side the rings were seized in the piston, i freed them off and made do, but seeing as i have the money, thought id slap a new set in there, with nice fresh gaskets.

Another "problem" is the head gasket i bought last time required me to take some metal lugs out to fit it, it said so in the instructions, do i go for the same type of gasket, honda genuine i think it was

A CB125 TDC carburates perfectly if you ditch the airbox and fit just one of the carbs using a CM125 2-1 inlet manifold and a pod filter.

Not as quick as standard but much quicker and smoother than trying to run with two old, buggered carbs and leaky inlet manifolds.

Can't do it with a twinshock, carb fouls the frame.

Thanks for your replies, that sounds a pain in the ass, im stuck... BUT

ive just spoken to a guy who's willing to sell me a Honda cb250n engine, twin, for £200 and he said if it wont run with the 125 cdi and what not, then we'll work our way round that as well, i.e he gives me the cdi's off it, and or wiring loom, but he thinks it should run it???

Im sure teff and others have a BATCH of reasons why this wont work LOL, but what do you think in general, i'm not sure what to do...

CB Two-Fifty engine will drop straight in. Needs the ignition diddling via a Y-Piece to fire both CDi's off one inductor, other-wise pretty straight foreward, other than loosing the air-boxes to run single carb.

CB250N 'Super-Dream' is a totally different animal. Counter-Balenced - 'Big-Block' twin, with tripple valve heads. Actually a 400 sleeved down to 250, its a BIG lump, and shares no common mountings. Lots of met-fab to make it fit in the frame, then you are on your own as far as hybridising wiring, fiddling carbs and sorting exhausts etc.

After buying all the bits to do an engine rebuild too..... I'd stick with the original engine. I have a couple of two-into one manifolds knocking about if you want to give Stinks suggestion a go?

He has both type engines there, the HUGE 250, 400 sleeved down, and the one im planning on getting, basically the same engine as mine but a 250.

It comes with a 2 into 1 manifold and a carb, its only done 20k odd miles and it starts first time.

I think ill try it, can you tell me more about the ignition/cdi y piece?

Thanks for that mate, that makes a bit of sense to me, basically, rather than the bike firing every half turn, it makes it fire one complete turn? LOL
