What type or brand of water proof grease should be used on things such as the rear brake arm? Also when cleaning out the back brake (drum) should anything there be greased?

For high movement, low load applications (like wheel bearings) I'd use LM grease.

For Low movement, high load applications (like suspension bushes or brake pivots) I'd use Molybdenum disulphide grease.

For stationary parts I don't want to seize, I'd use copper grease.

For hydraulic seals on brake pistons I'd use red rubber grease.

For waterproofing of electrical connectors I'd use dielectric grease or vaseline.

For Waterproof Grease you need specific Waterproof Grease.

The good folk at ACF50 do a waterproof grease.

Some drum brake cams have a felt washer inside to stop grease from penetrating the drum and getting on the shoes.

These are specific for water resistance.

General Purpose grease is soap based Base oil mixed with soaps. Soap absorbs water therefore GP grease is not really suited to wet applications and a more specific waterproof product would be better.
If it's something that gets regular greasing then maybe no need as the wetted grease would be pushed out by the fresh grease.

Boats like WP grease as it is more resistant to water and sea water is full of salt. Good for chips bad for arteries and machinery.

Most greases incorporate a soap element - the type and form of the soap defines its use and characteristics. Other additives make it better in other areas (eg molybdenum disulphide, tackiness polymers etc).

That said, the CL grease is intended for use on chassis points so is a good barrier grease. There are better but more specialised options (eg agricultural use, deck use etc).

I'd get LM, it's cheap and you can use it for most other applications.

Good luck getting the stuff off once on! It isn't soluble in water, meths, paraffin, petrol, alcohol etc etc

I use it to keep the locking tab on my petrol cap from sticking, it been in there for a year sometimes immersed in petrol and its still doing its job.

LM is not a moly grease. It is a Lithium Multipurpose grease. Hence why LM grease is pale coloured, not grey/black.

Yes, but a "general purpose" or multi-purpose grease (such as Castrol LM) is not a lithium-moly grease, it is a straight lithium grease. Moly greases tend to be more specialised and are not what you would normally use as a general purpose "slap it all over" grease.
