Hi guys does anyone know of any companies that would let an 18 year old hire a 33bhp restricted bike?
The bikes I'm interested in are the street triple, r6, xj6, cbr 6 and last and not least the gsxr 6 Very Happy.

Yeah there are a few companies that hire restricted bikes. A quick google yeilded some results. This company will rent you either a GSXR 600 K7 or a Bandit 650:

https://www.superbikerental.co.uk/restricted-motorcycle-rental.php

EDIT: Just saw it says you have to be 23. Fail.

EDIT 2: Why don't you just test ride the bikes if your considering buying one?

When I looked into it all the companies wanted you to have had your licence for at least a year some stated 2 years so I was screwed having only passed in November.

I thought it would be a good way of testing out some bikes before deciding on one as most dealers wont let you test ride with a new licence, they also want a year or two full licence experience.

Needed to leave a deposit though.

I honestly think you have no chance at your age, but try Lamba in Carshalton. I hired a restricted XJ6 from them. Very helpful. £40 + £350 refundable deposit. £70 for a weekend. I had one a fortnight after passing (when my licence returned).

I think you are near me, aren't you?

EDIT: 21 minimum, sorry!

Try smaller independent dealers.

I was after a test ride a few weeks after passing, I told them I hadn't had my licence through yet they said just leave your test cert and passport with us. Which I did, for half hour or so while I went out, I'm in my 30's though so don't know if that makes a difference.

Sorry mate I would have to decline.. i would rather hire a bike which was released after the year they invented wheels... thanks for the offer though mate.

Not sure if serious?

You seem to have an issue with older bikes, when realistically you have fuck all choice given your fucking horrendous location.

I insure all my bikes cheaper than you insure your 125 which is pretty hilarious. Whatever bike you get will be outperformed by a rider on an older bike.

My bike is still <10 years old Laughing

Paddy offered you to try out his ZX6 and CBR600 and you're insulting his bikes?

The CBR is 2003 and bloody immaculate Laughing It goes faster than your plastic fantastic in first gear and made my 500 feel like a moped... and you're turning down an offer to ride it. Just lol. Laughing

I call dibs on his turn.

Oh dear-oh dear-oh-deary-deary-me.! Laughing

Just buy what you want. Anything.! ........... Don't bother to insure it though as that would be a total waste of money. - Darwin theory will claim you within days. Smile

So, a Paddy offers to let you try out his bike for free, both a modern CBR 600 and a still reasonably modern ZX6R and you turn him down and insult his bikes?

You sir, are one gigantic prick.

Considering your age/experience you're lucky he offered. If for some reason you didn't want to ride somebody else's bikes you could have just nicely said 'thanks, but for reason X I'd rather not' rather then insulting him.

Who wants to bet that he's actually too scared to ride a big bike and is just posting threads like this for attention?

I am amazed at how anyone could be so ungrateful. Paddy is willing to risk an inexperienced rider to ride an unrestricted CBR600RR and ZX6R which they could easily crash/steal etc.

What is wrong with:

"Sorry Paddy. I really appreciate the offer but I would be worried in case I were to crash your bike and I wouldn't want that responsibility. Thank you"

Not, "nah mate, your bikes are shit. thanks anyway".

OP clearly doesn't have the first clue about bikes if he's insulting the engineering on a 2003 CBR600RR. Especially if OP is turning their nose up to it in comparison to a new XJ6.

Sorry Paddy for getting wound up but shit like this makes me lose faith in humanity.

Prick. 'Nuff said.

Although, it has to be said.. the more I read on this forum, the more of a top bloke paddy seems to be. Always willing to help, give advice and evidently give a scrote a free go on a choice of two bikes.

Karma is well deserved.

You utter cunt.

You insult his bike because it isn't less than a year or 2 old? It's 9 years old and looks fantastic and is better than your bike in every way.

I have a shitty old FZR600R and if you're turning his CBR down then you definitely wouldn't even consider mine but it's a fuckload better than an R125.

I generally find anyone that owns/wants an R125 doesn't really know anything about bikes and wants one because they think it will get them laid, when in reality its as shit as any 4 stroke 125 except loads more expensive.

Fucking grow up.
