Right, we've got the restrictor out of the exhaust and were looking for the one in the Air Intake, but not sure if there actually is one!! Confused Is it possible that the bike was only restricted by the exhaust or do the two normally come hand in hand?

Cheers in advance! Thumbs Up

the restrictor is beetween the carburator and the cylinder . it's a flat piece of metal with a round hole in the middle . if you've got some money i would recommand to fit carbon reed . remember you probably also need to upjet your carb like main 145 idle 45 power 70 https://www.dellorto.co.uk (£2.95 ex VAT each jet) and mount a BR9EIX https://www.sparkplugs.co.uk . the valves opening can be also improved (especially for high revs)

but the question there was do the two restrictions (i.e. exhaust restrictor and air intake restrictor) come hand in hand, or do some bikes only have it restricted in place, i.e. can the bike be restricted just by the exhaust restrictor?

Hi

Being an NS there was no inlet restriction, although the airbox is quite restrictive.

All the best

Hi

From memory quite a lot of difference, from a true 70 and a bit to a true 90ish (although the speedo would read higher). The easiest thing to do was to fit a Micron. Not sure the one you have pulled out was the only restriction. Also if I remember the silencer was quite restrictive. Think DEP made a suitable replacement silencer.

All the best

Keith

NS125R/F models

The only restriction is the exhaust, small washer in the front of the pipe and a plate thats in the end can (you need to take the end can off to see the plate, undo the 3 allen bolts that hold the end can to the exhaust and look inside that end and you will see it), both can be removed. Also change the reed valve for a race spec one and take away the air box and fit a K&N air filter, you might also need to rejet the carb, but in most cases you can play around with the needle hight to boost the power.

Stock 75mph to around 95/7mph with the above mods, or if you find a Micron exhaust you could top 105mph.

Honda's MBX125F was the same if I remember, as was Yamaha's RD125LC.

Ian, cheers, the only thing we've done so far is remove the restrictor pipe as in the piccies above - is it advisable to do the other things you mention then before riding it again?

hi

i have an ns125r with a micron, air filter and carbon reeds on it and it tops out at 87/90mph. the micron gave it more acceleration but actually a slower top speed, which i thought strange. you are better to remove the restrictor in the exhaust, fit a pod type air filter and change the front sproket to 12 teeth, this should get you a ture 90mph and save you waisting money.
Other thing would be a big bore kit, dont know where to get them or how much they are though cause i would like a 180cc preferably myself.that would get you 110mph i would think anyway nut not too sure.
