As you realised the whole clutch side needs to come off. I've got away with leaving the oil pump on as the two screws are easily rounded off so I found it easier to leave in place. The screws are the same on the centrifugal filter cover but that's needs to come off to remove the clutch. Use a Phillips screwdriver bit not a pozi drive while pushing to avoid rounding them off Wink

Make sure it is worth the effort. My mate hand a Honda 250 for many years in which the kickstart was held up by a bungee strap. He unclippped it to start the bike, and then hooked it back up.

I'm just saying that if the bike is near death, it might not be worth all the effort. But would the bungee strap technique pass an MOT?

Bungees = a significant contribution to all biking, along with cable ties, jubilee clips & PVC tape.

I'd really be tempted to bodge & make do. On a humble CG it sounds like an awful of of work, and there is always a risk of doing expensive damage to the engine in any strip down procedure. Why not get a selection of bungees to match your mood - pink, yellow, black etc.

From memory as I recently rebuilt my CG's engine (gearbox problems), you only have to remove the clutch side case, rather than splitting the cranks.

Don't think it was massively accessable without removing the clutch assembly though
