 |
|
https://ukfrancebikers.com/2013/03/16/france-compulsory-reflective-stickers-on-all-helmets/
I appreciate that this has been an ignored law for a long time but the french are now said to be applying it as the reflective vest thing has been done away with now. See above link. It is currently in force so anyone going to france soon should consider if they want to risk the fine (and points?) or get some stickers as per the regulation:
"All helmets must have four reflective stickers: one on the front, one at the rear and one on each side. The surface of each sticker must be 18 cm2 and, within each sticker, you must be able to draw a 40 mm diameter circle, or a 12.50 cm2 rectangle with a minimum of 20 mm length."
Also they "should not be removable without damaging the helmet and must remain reflective over time. They must also be water resistant and not interfere with the opening and closing mechanism of the helmet."
I am unable to find anywhere that sells regulataion size stickers in white. I have found some on "Get Geared" but despite them stating they are compulaory in France what they are selling are too small and so would not meet the regulatatory size.
I have heard that new helmets sometimes come with these stickers in the box with a leaflet stating what they are for. I have emailed Shoei asking if they sell the regulatory stickers and if so where (awaiting reply).
Does anyone know anywhere that sells regulaion size stickers to avoid falling foul of the gendarmes when away?
Hopefully the FFMC will get rid of this silly regulation in the same way they got rid of the reflective vests. ____________________ Current bike: KTM SD1290GT

I'll make you some if you want.
Let me know sizes and colours. the reflective vinyl is the same as used on some road signs so will last as required. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? As to comply they have to be have either a 4cm radius or 12.5cm area rectangle with 2cm length it is always going to interfere with the design, unless the side ones were made to go on the visor, the unused bits on the side that you can't look through anyway.
I'll make some of these standard ones but....
Are these regulation ones actually meeting the regs? If they are 2x9cm as stated but with rounded corners then they are just short of 18cm2 surface area.
I know it would take a real anal tossbag of a copper to stick you on for it but still.
So i'll make mine a mm or so bigger just in case.
I have white, red, blue, yellow and green reflective vinyl here ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? No worries, ordered already anyway. I've also posted a link (currently awaiting moderation) to your ebay shop on the UK France Bikers.com link in my original post above, as a few are saying they can't find anywhere to buy the regulatory stickers in the UK
I noticed the details on ebay say very sticky may take helmet paint with them if removed. I understand that has to be the case to meet the silly french law, however in reality could they be removed without damaging the helmet's paint? using hairdryer? As at the price your selling I was planning on putting them on when in france then removing them at first opportunity when I leave the country. ie getting a set each trip. ____________________ Current bike: KTM SD1290GT
