Cyclone V2 killing 125 battery in 20 hours

Pretty much as above. I fitted the alarm yesterday. Just the basic set up into indicators and battery.

The wife went out the back and heard a buzzing noise. I switched the alarm off then on again and notice the indicators weren't flashing.

I switched the alarm off and tried the indicators which worked. I then tried to fire the bike up, nothing. I've taken the battery out and put it on charge (just in time).

All the other wires (not in use) I heat shrunk all of them to insulate, then folded them neatly and cable tied them into an area of the bike surrounded by rubber, so wouldn't expect that to be the issue.

Can anyone enlighten me?

EDIT, forgot to say its a Honda cbf125 with a 12V 6amp battery.

All alarms will have a draw along with them. If you fitted the LED too, that's another (albeit minor) draw.

If your battery was low in the first place, it's entirely possible that the alarm drained the battery.

You do have to be careful if you leave a bike sitting for a couple of days with an alarm attached! 20 hours does sound way too quick, but as I say, if the battery was low in the first place this would happen.

I did not think the battery would be low. Las run was Thursday night 100 miles or so.

Cyclone wired with just the + and - will not discharge a battery for week over 2-3weeks, even then, that is a weak battery.

Wired just those wires in as its all that's needed, no issues even when leaving bike for well over a week in winter.

My Cyclone has been wired into my 250 for a good few months now with no ill effects. All be it I didn't bother with the indicators, just the basic motion sensor set up

I ride 5 or 6 days a week and it hasn't affected my battery

Do you know your battery history? Have you had it from new?

Battery is from new, 2 years old.

Up until now I've had no battery issues. Over winter I took it out charged it and it held its charge for 3-4 weeks, only dropping 10-20% of its charge.

Use a multimeter to see if the alarm is drawing current, and that the bike is charging properly. If the battery is more than two years old id suspect it.

Most thatcham approved ones drop down to 15ma standby/armed. Leaving it disarmed may flatten your battery as draw will be somewhere near 250ma.

It seems the battery was very low. After charging it I've had no issues with the battery draining.

It appears the buzzing noise came from the horn because I now have no working horn since the alarm was fitted (found out when I needed my horn for an idiot cutting me up).

Can anyone tell me what's happened to the horn and if its fixable?

If you have a buzzing coming from your horn it means you have some sort of electrical feed to it. If it's not 'beeping' horn noises but just a low buzz you have a low voltage feeding it.

Pretty obviously if it started when you wired in the Cyclone, you have fucked up somewhere.
