Hi there
I have in the past resprayed a few things prep is the key word. The better the prep, better the finish.
But it is not as easy as it sounds spray cans can be tricky things.
Full respray, Ford Orion, Ford Fiesta with proper spray booth and lots of prep work. Came out looking good
Full Respray rust bucket, Ford Sierra in Hamarit blue from spray cans. Strangely it looked good lol, even after 2 years the rust never came back lol.
In the end practice on something first before touching your bike ____________________ Lexmoto Street 125 (sold) - Kawasaki ZR7S |

mine.
hycote satin black, then a ebay jobbie 2k clearcoat laqcuer.
It's easy, but practise the lacquer on something first!!!!!
For the tank decals, FFS don't remove them, you have to use a heat gun and cut all the paint layers off. Just sand them down.
Most of the time is prepwork.
It's not brilliant but it's good enough for me.

The more time you spend prepping the better the finish, as I said after doing my car with a brush the prepI did before gave it a glass finish. |

If you're doing it in your garage using retail products then plan on having your bike off the road for a week, and then two more weeks of the slightest contact leaving marks in the lacquer before it fully cures.
If I were doing it again and just wanted a consistent block colour, I'd seriously consider vinyl wrap. Have a look at some how-tos. It looks fairly fiddly, but weigh that up versus coat after coat of sanding and spraying, and the existential horror of getting a run. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Trust me on this, I have a mate who's wrapped stuff and it takes forever, he said to wrap his car it took weeks, let alone you cant touch up repairs.
Far easier to do what I did, that satin base coat stuff is super forgiving. If it runs, you can literally dab it with a towel and then lightly spray over it again, and v'oila it's perfect.
It's just the 2k lacquer which is weird, really easy to use, but you have to get it close and lay it on quite thick. Took me about 6 hours of prep work to get it all keyed in etc. Then a couple of hours to get 6 coats on, then about 4 coats of lacquer. This was in 5deg a couple of days before we had the snow. Had to leave it in a shed with a fan heater. I reckon had I waited till the summer, it would have come out even better. ____________________ KAWASAKIIIII |

Me and one of the chaps at work are going to go 50/50 on a spray kit and 10lt of plast paint and see what it is like in a few months time (next 5 week pay day) should be around £150 each. Looks interesting lol. Worth a try just to see how it comes out always wanted to try a matt car or bike before ____________________ Lexmoto Street 125 (sold) - Kawasaki ZR7S |
