Had the rs around a month now and the side stands been a but dodgy since I bought it. Got home from work today, put it on the stand and it's just given in.

After closer inspection, it seems like the part of the frame that holds the side stand with two bolts has snapped from the frame and now it won't go on without coming away. I tried tightening it up a lot so the bolt wouldn't move but don't really trust it.

Would I be looking along the lines of welding to fox this issue?

Bolt it up through the holes but with thick washers both sides. When it's in the correct place, weld the washers to the frame.

Yeah looks like your bottom hole has been ripped apart, might need stitches and a topical lotion.

Seems you're not having a huge amount of luck with this bike. As much as I was rooting for you to get it running again you have to admit that maybe it's time to cut your loses. How much did you pay for it?

This kind of post makes me glad I have both centre and side stand.

WTF do you do if you go out and the only stand breaks? Try and lean the bike against a post? Put it down gently?

Clean paint and oil off it before attempting to weld it as it will corrupt the weld and make striking up difficult. Disconnect your battery before welding.

looks easy enough to fix, I assume its a alloy frame? find someone that is handy with a AC TIG welder to weld/fill and re-drill the mounting points.

you want a big tig plant, AC/DC circa 250amps, anything with a circuit board off the bike due to it being high frequency also if you have a pacemaker gtfo of there.

welding a new plate would be my suggestion to.

Depending on the availability of a good welder I would consider getting a nice thick metal plate drilling four holes in that and bolting it to the frame, then bolting the stand through the plate and the old holes. see attached detailed plan

Think I'm going to get a friend of my brothers to weld a new plate to the frame as suggested, the bikes been on autotrader for a while and I've had a ton of offers at £1000.

Got another couple of people coming to have a look tomorrow. I think I'll be booking an intensive driving course for a car with the money and go back to a cheap run around like a CG til I've passed my car licence - probably come back to bikes when u turn 19 and can get a decent 400cc Thumbs Up
