 |
|
Hit a cyclist tonight. Riding along a country road with my sister on the back, so being relatively sensible. 60 on a 60 road, I see a cyclist up ahead, clock her, all seems normal.
As I get closer, I see her veer to the right, but I assumed she'd just lost her balance, but I pre-empt it and move slightly to the right ready to overtake wide if I have to, then I realise she's turning off to the right, no signal, no look over the shoulder, just decides she's taking a turnoff. Don't know how she didn't hear a GSXR with a Yoshi can...
Just remember wondering what's about to happen, I managed to swerve enough, somehow she didn't hit the bike, but something clipped my elbow, and my sister's knee. Looked in my mirror to find bicycle rider in a pile on the road. Spun around, turned back, she was fine but shaken up. She knew she'd messed up, just kept apologising etc, but all was fine, hopefully!
Really, people shouldn't be allowed to use the public highway without some kind of competency test. She was only a young lass and I'm guessing that's shaken her up quite a bit.
The rest of the ride was good on my new Bridgestone R10s top tyre. ____________________ Current: Yamaha FZ1 '07 | GSXR 750 SRAD

I'd like to think she has learnt her lesson and that she will think twice, so you may have prevented her death in a less fortunate situation?
Alternatively she's a tw@t. ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

Another one bites the dust, I hate cyclists, as mentioned, there's no license, therefore you can never know whom you're about to meet on the road. Glad, you didn't go down ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Highway code 211-213.
Needs to change "If they look over their shoulder it could mean that they intend to pull out, turn right or change direction." to "Especially if they don't look over their shoulder..."
Bikers too, mind.
Now. Young lass with bike toned legs, and your sister, and no pictures? Door's that way . ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Maybe worth reporting to the police before someone else does and they get the wrong end of the stick? For similar reasons as you'd want to report a collision with a pedestrian.
Especially if she's young as in under 18 young because if Daddys little princess comes how with skinned knees, there could be hell to pay regardless of who's really at fault. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Cyclist got killed today in a hit and run apparently did a similar thing riding along and pulled straight out in front of a 4x4 that was doing 45mph. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

Yeah, would've been much better if she'd done that in a car. |

Had similar near misses with the lycra brigade. When i cycled i found that using my left or right arm gave a clear indication of my next manouevre to traffic behind me.
Maybe they should put this strange and alien indicating manouevre into the highway code for cyclists to learn from ____________________ No! No more talk! We go in! We kill! Kill! We kill 'em! They kill us, we kill them! Kill 'em! Kill 'em! Kill! Kill!

Ideally cyclists on road would have road training like a mini cbt and a numberplate for reporting lf red light runners amongst other things the minority do. But cant see that ever happening considering the shitstorm of implementing it |
