sv650 tyre pressure

Hi All,

My tyre pressure in my sv is 36 psi rear and 33 front and I am around 115kg . The bike feels really stiff but that could be suspension which I need to check out and make sure it is adjusted correctly. so that temporary rules out air pressure causing the bike stiffness.

However whenever I ride it , I can see a single line left across front and rear of my bike which signifies that my tyre is over inflated as the center piece is mostly in contact with the road.

what do you guys think , Am i correct in thinking that way and need to reduce tyre pressure?

try going around some corners, i'd have said 36 rear 33 front is already low enough for the road. I never run my pressures that low (I just aim for a tad under 40psi front/rear.) Here are my front and rear tyre profiles, front is halfway gone rear is nearly at legal limit, neither have squared off both running 39 or so PSI on my VTR1000.

according to haynes mine is 36 33 rear front but that leaves a line in the middle as per the picture suggesting the wheel is over inflated also the bike is a bit wobbly in corners

Or, maybe if you let the tyres down to 12.5psi and avoid any corners you'll be fine.

You are thinking of car tyres, where over-inflation means the middle wears out.

On a bike, straight lines make the middle wear out.

This 'line' you're on about is just your tyre in contact with the road, I run 36/42 on my CBR. The line is a contact patch, it's not going to squash the entire tyre into the road is it?

Follow what your manual says, you're a heavy fucker so i'd probably say to raise the rear a bit, I'm only 60kg and have higher than you already(my manual states 36/42)

You've bought the 'linear car tyre' for your SV so yes it does need to be deflated so the whole tyre is in contact with the road, next time ask for a sports/touring tyre.
