In relation to this thread, I'm looking at ways of having a restriction done that only works when I want it to.
I don't know if anywhere actually sells these but here's my ideas so far:
-Throttle stop that slides in and out of place
-Washer in exhaust that rotates 90 degrees on a cable
-Second ECU or second map on ECU that can be changed over at the flick of a switch ____________________ This post is probably not serious and shouldn't be taken literally.

Take one spark plug out and put a screw in there instead, power reduced immediately. ____________________ '87 Honda XBR 500, '96 Kawasaki ZX7R P1, '90 Honda CB-1, '88 Kawasaki GPz550, MZ 150 ETZ

Restrictors are optional.
An restricted ECU seems a bad idea considering the other thread you link to.
You could attach your number plate with velcro and remove it when you want to be illegal. |

I posted a thread like this agess ago, general answer was screw through throttle housing. ____________________ GOOD GAME BODYGUARD: https://i.imgur.com/8WePGgf.jpg

Hmmm.
How about something that restricts the bike when the front wheel is not moving? Over a certain throttle position when the front wheel isn't moving, it grounds the coils, say.
It would obviously be sold as a perfectly legitimate selectable anti-wheelie device or something . |

Perverting the course of justice? Surely not. I just don't want to cause any damage to by bike by attempting to use it in ways that the manufacturer didn't intend
I certainly wouldn't be breaking any speed limits!
@Roger, I'm probably going to end up with an SV650? ____________________ This post is probably not serious and shouldn't be taken literally.

Then I can't help you as I don't know, will be interested to hear what others say.
If you were to flick a switch that swapped between ecu's it would have to re-boot the bike (turn it off and back on) so you couldn't really do it on the move. Not sure how relevant that is. ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

Thinking about it when I worked at a kart circuit these boxes about 10 inches long and 5 wide would plug into the engines and you'd have a remote on if you want to set 3/4 power 1/2 and so on, keep the remotw with you and if you get pulled over switch to the lowest setting to be safe and dyno it to be sure it works will get some pictures today! ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

| smegballs wrote: | Front wheel motion would be a good one. If you got a programmable rev limiter (as used on racing bikes/go karts etc, pretty common to buy) and had that switched in by a relay that was linked to front wheel motion.
Set the limiter so it makes under your bhp limit, then have it so that once the front wheel is moving the relay cuts out and you have full power available... That would be pretty swish and it is within the realms of possibility. Need to get someone good with electronics to draw up and build the relay switching circuit, but probs could be done.
I'd use the sensor and magnet etc out of a pushbike speedo, then have that linking to some kind of signal shaping bits and bobs, before a power transistor to turn on the relay, cutting out the limiter.
Would actually be a pretty cool electronics project!! |
This does sound like an amazing idea. Not massively complex either so I could do it in the shed!

Simple, effective and easy to install. If only they were a bit smaller... I could wrap it in a toolbox and stick it under the seat I think? ____________________ This post is probably not serious and shouldn't be taken literally.
