Am I drink driving/riding

As with many of you, we like to go out on the piss sometimes and the next morning I will either walk to work, take a day off or get a lift.


Now can anyone recommend an electronic breathalyzer that is accurate (within reason) or would one of those disposable ones be better? Anyone had in experience with this?

Would like to know if I am still over the limit the next day etc

Not sure how reliable all the cheap ones are, i've used the french-road side ones before which were fairly accurate i'd say.

These are the home office approved ones if you want to go the whole way - but probably quite expensive

Interesting, there are loads on ebay ranging from £2-£18 all seem way too cheap to actually be accurate!

Sorry but the whole drink drive limit is flawed and I believe there should be a roadside sobriety test for people just over the limit on the night or the next day as everyone reacts differently to different amounts of alcohol

For example (and I'm just using the first list I found online here): take a 30 year old man from Russia (who drinks almost 16 litres of alcohol per year), and a 30 year old man from Pakistan (who drinks about .2 litres of alcohol per year), and give them both 4 shots of vodka each. Both will be over the limit, but would they both really be in the same condition?

Or another example, 2 men from the same country, drink about the same amount as each other, and for example drink 4 pints each... the difference between them is one is 5'5" and weighs about 9 stone, the other is 6'3" and weighs about 17 stone... I wonder who's body will absorb and break down the alcohol quicker.

i tend to go by the rule, if im pissed the night before I dont use a vehicle until lunchtime the next day, If I have to be out in the morning i drink less the night before.

I go by the rule I had to go by when I was learning to fly - no heavy drinking within 12 hours of a lesson and a minimum of 8 hours "bottle to throttle".

Done me reasonably alright up until now. Then again I don't have a job so I don't have to worry about going out, getting home at 3am pissed to get up at 7 to get ready for work either.

I don't even drink with a meal if I know I'm driving home. I had a pint once then went back home and just felt... wrong. I haven't done it since. I am a lightweight though.

Alcohol?!?! Take lots of class A drugs and then shortly before needing to drive, you should drink half a pint of lager.

If you get stopped by plod then they'll want to breathalyze you because your breath smells of alcohol. Once they've done that then you'll then be free to carry on driving, possibly to work or more likely to your dealer if for some reason they don't deliver 24/7.

never drink before I drive....I used to work with a guy that would stumble into work reeking of booze at 7am..its a wonder he could find the wagon let alone drive it!!!

I did it once years ago....don't even know how i made it home just after me and my 1st ex wife split..
had drunk about 1/2 bottle of vodka , then drove home....vowed then never to do it again..and i didn't.

don't drink now..can't on the tablets i'm on..but amzed at how many folk still drive to pubs then drive home....

It doesn't matter how high or low the limit is, there's always going to be the one bloke who has a skinful, decides to drive home in his Land Rover Defender and rams a bus full of kittens into a firework factory.

Clearly drinking on the night out, you wouldn't drive it's just the question of am I safe to drive now, I feel 100% and stopped drinking at 12am (early because I wasn't allowed into a club, forgot my ID was with the DVLA) but I have no idea how much I drank...



At a guess... 3 pints and 10 shots maybe? Its been nearly 12 hours since my last drink.

This would be the ideal time to have a machine.
