They use lasers. If you're line of sight, they can get you.
You might be lucky. 49 indicated = more like 44-45 actual = not prosecuted in forces that folllow the ACPO guidelines (10% over +2mph) ____________________ My Flickr |

thats great, bar the fact the police keep a record of it.
how long before thats for sale to the highest bidder.
your fucked if you do and fucked if you dont.
and seeing as that insurance companies are allowed to make it up as they go along, and you've got section 1b of;
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2012/6/section/4
which i'm sure they could do to you retrospectively 5 years down the line. ____________________ Turbocharged drag thing / project death weapon / GK73A

Again, completely true.
However the FAQ for the course provider I recently went on states that my details are kept on a the ACPO database for 'road safety research purposes' only. These details will only be given to the police, and only if they are considering offering me a course in the future.
If my details are sold to insurance companies, then the AA will be in breach of the DPA.
Obviously this is all hypothetical, I would absolutely increase my insurance premiums by admitting to attending a training course even though I have been convicted of nothing. My previous post was nothing but bravado and boyish showing off officer/insurance wanker*.

Details were only previously held by local forces, so ACPO Plc holding them is already a slippery slope.

Insurance fraud is a crime, so they're fine to disclose that information.
Fortunately, Kitten Kourses are moneyspinners for the ACPO Plc ranks, so they have a literal vested interest in telling insurers to sod off.
I suspect I'd forget. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Rogerborg is spot on. The course providers are massively fucked off with the insurance companies for loading the premiums for course attendance, especially when the main selling point is no impact on your insurance..... Now it is almost always better to take the first three points, as it will stiff you just as much as the SAC. Of course, that is if you tell them..... Having said that, several people have reported their insurance premiums reducing with the addition of three points
If I had done two SACs in the past, I wouldn't be declaring them........but obviously I haven't ____________________ Past - 1988 honda revere 600, 1996 kawasaki gpz500s, 1999 Yamaha R6

Always wondered, with these vans if you're on a bike coming towards it speeding and you're obviously in their sights, but then slow down as you go past [the point at which they can read your plate], unless you're pulled shortly after by a car etc, are you essentially off the hook. Or do they take a picture of the rear of passing bikes that were speeding, and its enough evidence to get a conviction if they have front-video of the speeding |

If you spot them from a distance away slow down and hope for a turning you can escape down before you reach the paedo in the 'safety' van as more and more of them have a small camera that will get your plate as you pass. Or if on a dual carriageway try and position yourself next to a HGV / LWB van etc as you pass the scamera van then overtake the HGV / LWB van etc and pull in front of it and use it to shield your number plate from the camera.

I heard that in America they point real guns out of the vans.
I made that up.. but thinking about it, it could be true. |
