After sorting the CBT on Monday, picked this up today on an 09 plate which I think was a good deal. Got a bit of cosmetic rust on the swing arm and reverse of the exhaust and a small hole in the seat which I plan to replace but otherwise a nice little runner. Possible only plans may be a screen but will see how I go.
Just got to go to Bike Stop tomorrow and get all the kit and I'm ready to go, can't wait!

for the steering lock you turn the bars to the left and push the key in and turn to the lock position, if it doesn't go in wiggle the bars a bit till it slips in
if you look under it you can see the mechanism ____________________ Fzr-600 1999 |

Hi
Take rusted fasteners off and either replace or use wire wheel to clean and cover in ACF50, swing arm, remove and strip down and repaint with about 8 coats, I have done this with both my bikes, you will probably find the swing arm bolt is dry as a bone so this is a good time to relube. The rear foot peg carriers are terrible on YBR`s so just sand blast and paint or powder coat.
There is a square box section in the middle of the frame that also likes to rust under the side panels, try and get ACF50 or waxoyl in there, everything on the YBR can be made better with new paint.
As for tyres Sportys all the way, the cheng shin are fine in the dry and death traps in the wet and cold. ____________________ 07 Yamaha YBR125, 07 Honda CG125 , 15 CBR300R (Chocolate Crank, Deaded), 16 CB500FA, 19 Honda Forza 300, 70 Suzuki SV650 |

Hi
For the swing arm i did this.
Remove rear wheel and shockers and chain guard, then undo the lower bolts on the foot peg hangers and then the swing arm bolt, it will all come apart then so no need to split chain (good time to pop sprocket cover off and give chain a good clean).
Check the pivot bolt is still a good fit in the swing arm if not new bushes needed if good take of the end caps noting how they go on as one is different, then remove the rubber chain guide and the torque arm, now you should have just a steel swing arm.
If you have money to burn then cover bushes and blast if not and you are tight like me its wire wheel on drill and sandpaper, remove all the loose pant and surface rust (you dont need to remove all the good paint) then treat where the surface rust was with jenolite acid a few times till it all looks good and clean, wash down with alcohol or turps to remove last of oil and grease.
Now i used about 3-4 coats of anti rust primer but red oxide will do, then and this is personal choice i used 3 coats of stone chip paint slightly heavier where there will be spray and stones thrown of the wheel. last but not least about 3-4 coats of gloss or semi gloss paint (i use plasticote) and let harden for a couple of days.
the torque arm will most likely be a tighter fit with the extra paint and the little hole where the rubber chain guard goes in will be tight. Wire brush the hangers and repaint then re assemble it all I used moly lube for the pivot bolt, you will benefit from help when rebuilding or get used to using your foot as a hand lol.
This should be good for many years.

I just use what I have, but you can stove enamel, powder coat, professional respray or rattle can, the choice and cost is yours but Ive never had a problem with plasticote paint.
