So there's a load of people bitching that a Mod' has done his job and banned people for bullying, and locked threads that were set up for the same reason.
I can think of a simple way for those who think school playground bullies are cool to have a forum which is they would wish it to be.
Step up to the plate and sort out your own, with whatever rules you see fit, self moderation, karma, whatever.
It strikes me that this forum is evolving with the times and whatever the opinion of a rather loud vocal element of the community, Korn as top dog is doing as best he can to keep the forum going.
Am I right in saying the mod's get no actual wage for giving up their time and reading through the pages of argumentive waffle and childish insults which some delight in posting? Rather them than me. I find enough stress in day to day existence. I certainly wouldn't choose to wade through it here constantly.
I have deliberately posted my opinion as a new thread to give you all the chance to give opinions on it via the Karma system. I suspect there will be a few who will slate me for this, but there you go.

Below the 'Doesn't agree with me therefore opinion worthless' rating but above the 'Not a fan of following the herd to look cool' maybe?
Why would I arse lick? What would that get me?
More money? More access to hot women?
Or just more time on here?

That'd be regarded as something to strive for?
Endless abuse, an obligation to read this rather than just doing as you and I do and visit the site when it suits us?

I'd love to see the forum which run in the manner some of the posters would prefer.
I imagine a lawless environment where anything was permitted. It would be an entertaining place to visit, in the brief time before it imploded.

More problems regarding stinkwheel's moderation? Tsk.

It would be a shame if this forum became like some others where any time you speak your mind you wonder whether your post will still be there in an hour's time - stuck up cretins on power trips should generally be removed as moderators as soon as they are discovered as being such.

A good mod is there to remove spam and duplicate posts and delete the occasional way-OTT or blatantly illegal post. And not a lot else. It's not the hard job you make out it is, OP.

It only takes one 'nazi mod' to ruin a forum. I've seen it happen before, take note of how many active users there are now Korn, vs how many there are in a month, two months, three months time; sadly it will probably be too late to reverse the trend by then.

In the extra four months you've been on here than I have i'd be intrigued to know what you know about the history of this forum to decide its 'evolving' from its previous state Thinking I sure as hell don't Wink

Nothing personal, but what did you think this was going to achieve other than another F&FW thread and flame/abusive ratings for the mods to deal with Thinking

In my opinion the ideal mod is one you don't even notice.

One that is free from ego, and there more for housekeeping than enforcing ze will of ze admin.

I understand that this is modern times, and everything has to pay for its self, however I think there are more factors now resulting in the position we currently find ourselves.

The split off forum is not a new thing, and will likely come to nothing, as they tend not to (as it just tends to be the founders clique that migrates).

The original may well survive, but as a shadow of what it used to be. I do have seen a few forums go down the shitter due to overzealous modding, and it is a very sad thing.

Before Korn was the ideal admin. Still admin, but never present. It worked well. That said, I think we have far more dick heads on the forum now than we did say five years ago, and for me that has lead to the increase in modding and admin activity.

If the PH's site didn't suck balls so much (Thanks Haymarket), and VD wasn't such a barren landscape, I'd migrate across to there (hell I already post on PH)

One thing is for sure, BCF will endure. Will I still be here? I don't know. Will any of your care? Hell no. Penny CoinPenny Coin

Did I not read a little while back about a load of people moaning that due to some major shake up somewhere or other the moderation would have to increase? Random pictures of nakedness, the nobcat and others would be banned?
There was such an uproar over that it was as if a five year old had his favourite teddy shot. There has been others - but the forum has adapted to the new situation. In fact, I'd say it's evolved even in the last few months?

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 12 years ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
