My 2nd Gen Hayabusa is not charging the battery? Voltage of around 12.5 when running when it should be around 14v. I have replaced the Stator but still the same Sick Any ideas people? Thanks..

Checked it isn't your battery that's shagged?

Mine wasn't charging and was showing a low voltage, replaced the battery and bang, worked fine.

Have you done the stator and checked output voltage of it in AC?

Have you also replaced the regulator?

Changed Stator and checked voltage in DCv and no change when engine running.
New Battery fitted.
Do I now change the Regulator Question

Get AC voltage from each of the stator wires at the connector.

Red probe on 1 wire, black on frame. AC volts rather than DC. You should have roughly the same across all 3. Check it increases with rpm, so 5000rpm.

If they are outputting a decent chunk and are within a few V of each other, I'd hazard a guess the regulator may be toasted.

I'd replace both as a matter of course regardless.

The 'busa generator should put out more than 65V AC on all three phases at 5000rpm to be declared healthy. Un-plug the genny and test with a meter across the yellow wires - all three combinations of pairs.

The battery voltage should read between 13.6V and 15.1V at 5000rpm with a fully charged battery.

If the AC test proves the genny is good, which it likely is since you swapped it with no change, then first of all follow the reg/rec wires to the loom plug these have a habit of going rotten and melting. I know of several Gen1 'busas which have the reg/rec plug chopped off and a chocolate block put in it's place.

If the plug seems ok then check out the black lead from the battery. It splits into a thicker and a thinner lead. The thinner one has a heavy spade connector on it and this can corrode causing all manner of problems including not charging.

Check the plug on the reg/rec first of all. They are known to melt - my mate has had his connected by chocolate block for the last few years. Then check the loom earth spade connector which is a few inches from the battery -ve terminal. This bad boy in the attached image is what stopped mine charging.

the f1 light came on 2 weeks ago , i switched the bike off to see if restarting it would clear the light but the bike wouldn't start .

i bought a new battery & i thought the bike was ok .

i took it out tonight & after 5 miles the f1 light came on again !

i phoned my boy & he came & met me with the battery out of his cg125 , it did the job to get me home Very Happy

i'll check the connections tomorrow , thanks again .

Yes, a very flat battery will put the FI light on, but it won't come on to tell you the bike isn't charging.

You have to remove the tailpiece to get to the reg/rec, it's fixed to the seat subframe near the left grab handle.

Not on a Gen2 it isn't (unless someone has moved it)........it's on a bracket below the front end of the swingarm.....above the rear fairing extension. 😉
