Hi all,

Just brought one of these, first things first i want to change the REG/REC on it as I've been told they are a common problem.

Can you buy one they will simply plug in or will i have to do some soldering ?

Cheers

If it isn't giving you any trouble, why change it? Leave it until you have a problem - if you ever do.

As for changing it, it's a simple plug and two bolts. Thumbs Up

Last night as i was riding it home about 2 mins from the lights i went to pull off and at first i thought i was in 3rd because it did not want to pull off, then at the top of my road it died and when started any revs i gave it it died, got it home left it a few hours went to start it again and it was fine.

That doesn't sound like a reg/rec issue. To test, stick a meter across your battery terminals and read the voltage present with the engine at tick over and at 3-4k. It should read around 12.5v initially (at tick over), rising to around 14v at 3-4 k.

Obviously another Honda one will be a strait swap, I'm on about say a GSXR or R1 rec/reg what do you need to adapt.

The reg went on the 98 cbr600 f3 I got shortly after I got my mitts on it.
I did read up on it a little and heard a lot about other brands of regs lasting a lot longer (although requiring soldering etc) but then found an F3 reg at a good price and just went for it.

However, that being said, a fried reg doesn't match the symptoms you have mentioned. If the reg is fried it will kill your battery, the bike starting fine later suggests your battery is fine Confused

Give it a test to see what's happening with the reg then it'll be clearer as to where to look.

All the best.

Think it may be due to a problem with some shitty fuel as there was a delay in power so im going to top it up and let it run and see how it is, cheers anyway Thumbs Up
