It depends on an analyst who may be applying peculiar logic of this form:
All fraudsters have been involved in accidents.
Most people have not been involved in accidents.
Therefore as soon as you're involved in an accident, the probability that you're a fraudster rises sharply.
All people who are involved in multiple accidents are involved in one accident.
Therefore as soon as you're involved in one accident, the probability that you will be involved in multiple accidents goes up. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I caught my elbow on a tree today.
I was riding round the trees out the back of work, left hand corner, my outside elbow, right elbow, clonked on a low branch. This pushed my arm back, twitching the front end and straightening the bike up. Not a massive spill, but I went ploughing into the undergrowth at the side of the track. ____________________ Current:1991 Honda MT50 (Soon to be a H100/MTX/MT5 hybrid), 1976 Honda Cub C70, 2005 Honda Varadero 125, 1993 Yamaha TTR250 Open Enduro , 2010 Road Legal Stomp YX140, 1994 Honda CRM 250 MK III, 1999 Cagiva Mito 125, 1992 Honda CB400 Super Four, Stomp T4 230, 1984 Honda H100s, 2009 Sym XS125K

Riding my Honda in moving traffic down Kingsway last night in rush hour - a hugely busy dual carriageway in central London (outside Holborn station). Dude decides to play Frogger, runs out from between two adjacent buses stationary in bus lane, narrowly avoids getting hit by a car in lane 2 and then freezes in my headlight in lane 3 as I hit the brake and try to swerve.
Hit him, we both went down. Bike's instrumentation and wingmirror disintegrated, front brake lever bent and handlebars are no longer straight.
He got up before I did, refused to help me lift the bike and said he was going to leave. I told him to stay where he was and called Police. Police took statements, he admitted fault on record, said he was late for work. CCTV operator caught the whole thing and radioed through to confirm there was nothing I could have done to avoid him.
Ambulance arrived (45 minutes later!!), at which point our man tells them he'd blacked out - which was a lie proved by CCTV, but meant they still had to take him to hospital. So instead of getting checked in the ambulance I took my bike trousers off in the back of a police car and got myself checked over by an attractive blonde nurse. There's a first time for everything.
I'm left with about £300 of repairs (or I would be if I could source parts for my VRX400, which are rare as rocking horse shit), a scuffed brand new helmet, huge bruise on knee and a black big toenail that's loose and will come off soon.
Oh, and Policeman suggested the guy will probably try and InjuryLawyers4U me.
4 years riding daily in London, suppose it was just a statistical probability.... |

Seeing as it's all been caught on cctv and he's admitted fault (for now anyway), can you not claim damages from frogger man? Might be worth looking into.
Good luck on getting your bike sorted anyway. |

10. Wife's just killed her chinky 125cc scooter. Busy roundabout, lots of traffic. Waited a long time for a gap. Break in the traffic, starts to move and glances right to see a car bearing down on her, skids than bang!
Luckily no ambulance needed but the Police were keen and very polite and helpful. Wife doesnt really know what happened and is in shock but its either-
A. She didnt look properly
B. The car sped round the roundabout to beat the traffic (I know I do)
C. Bit of both as that bloody scooter is soooo slow pulling away!
I was just dropping my brother off and dreading sitting in the traffic, thank god I'm on the bike- must have been an accident, then "Feck me!" it's the wife ____________________ Rides: Honda H100a (Retired), VT500e (Sold), Kawasaki ZX400 (sold), Kawasaki GT550 (Sold), Suzuki Inazuma (Daily), Honda CD185t (Broken), LML Star 2t (Last run edition).

#11 I think
#3 son on his 50 on the weekend, coming home from his GF's about 20:00hrs and managed the following.
Just come into a 30 limit, so slowed down accordingly.
Passing the local pub, sees lights coming up to the exit, so slows to about 25 and moves slightly over to the left to enhance his vision and gives the car more chance to see him and stop, which it does.
As he passes the entrance (after hedges, buildings and fences fro tha past couple of miles or so), a gust of wind blasts out of the gap and pushes him over to the left even further.
Right into the kerb on the side of the road and dumps him off.
Bounces and rolls down the pavement relatively OK until he meets the local bus shelter head on, litterally.
Lid

Better one of lid (not the scratches and holes from bolts in shelter)
https://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz157/mikeallen3lly3900/IMAG0666_zpsa99a0c2a.jpg
The car coming out of the pub, rushes up, stops and attends to him, whilst he calls me, along with another car who stops to help, both very nice people.
Nothing serious injured as such, bruised hips (would have been worse without pads in trousers), bruised shoulder (again, would have been worse without armour in the jacket) and the following to the face

Obv's off to A&E, seen within 20 mins and out withing the hour.
Suspected broken nose, but not displaced, so should heal up nicely, a couple of scratches, but generally got off very lightly.
The best thing I can see is that he does not really want to tell his mates about it too much, does not see it as a rite of passage or something to brag about, so painfull lesson, well learned.
Oh, BTW, Cheapy Spannish Supermoto type of bike, so plastic panels, easy to repair the scratches to the surface, nothing bent, nothing broken, exhaust got a scuff, but like the boy, bruised, but nothing serious.

Pity about the facial stuff, how did that happen with a full-face on?[/quote]
Face first into a bus stop? not much fun
Lid fitted fine (scrapped now obviously)
Just think it was the sudden stop from speed and a small amount of forward movement.
That said, he had had a nasal cuaterisation the day before, so a little rough around the edges to start with. ____________________ 2002 Rieju RS2-50 (Sold, spares or repair), 2010 Suzuki DR-125SM (Traded for ->), 2007 Honda CBF 600 (Sold), 2010 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 (Briefly, now returned), 2007 Suzuki Intruder 1800m (Even More Briefly, traded in for ->), 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 650 |

Saw the bloke while photoing the road for insurance.
Still speeding, still no idea of how to operate an indicator, shot across the same crossroads twice without looking and then reversed clean over the junction he hit me on again without looking. He did come over and inform me that my bash hat was alright mind and that he's got a new door & his girlfreind has a scratch on her face.

Not really a spill, but got rear-ended by another scooter on my commute this morning.
Evidently I braked a little too sharply for him. Did a lifesaver before going between two cars and saw him coming, straightened up and braced for impact. Kept the SH up.
He hit my rear mudguard. Only observable damage is snapped registration plate screws, and cracks in the plate itself.
Any opinions on what I can do about temporarily not having a license plate on my scooter? I finished my trip this morning (~300m) without incident, but when I finish work at 18:30 tonight, should I risk riding home through the streets of London without a plate?
(I'll probably find some string or cable ties or something and hang it loosely until I get home. I have black and yellow registration plate screws and bolts at home so that's not a problem, until I get a new plate made up and delivered.) ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

Barely worthy of making this thread, but I had my first pathetic slow speed drop today. Waiting to turn right, I hear a police car coming from behind, keeping an eye on the mirror it looks like it's going to rear end me so I panicked.
Tried to go quick as a car was coming the other way, stalled, and the bike went over. Didn't try to pick the bike up myself so no man points, picked out a passerby to help, then I rode off with my tail between my legs
Damage: bent brake lever, scuffed exhaust (not sure if it'll polish out), a damaged engine casing bolt and exhaust cover screw. Going to order a new brake lever but what about the bolts/screws? They all have a blob of yellow paint on (I guess security markings?) so should I try replacing them?
Also in the paperwork it says they'll know (the hire company) if the bikes been dropped, how so is there a sensor or something?
Tl;dr dropped big heavy bike I've been struggling with*

Can't seem to find the parts anyway, should be able to get hold of a brake lever. What's best in this situation, tell the hire company now, or after when they come to collect the bike? It's obvious it's been dropped, bit worried about the £500 excess. ____________________ Yamaha MT-03 '08 (crashed)

Crashed at the PB track day at Rockingham. Tipped into Gracelands (The fast left before the second hairpin). The track drops away a little, so the bike can do light. Too much lean and the tyres just slide away. Doh.
Top Fairing smashed, LHS main fairing, tail unit, engine case, indicators, tank, and frame all scuffed/shot blasted by the gravel. ____________________ My Flickr |
