Hi
Sounds like a repair using new parts is not worthwhile.
If you sell it to a breaker they will give you peanuts for it. Probably £250~£500 as that seems to be the amount an insurance company want for letting you keep a bike and they are not going to sell it for less than a breakers would pay.
Down to repair it yourself or break it.
Breaking it is a fair amount of work. Suspect you would not get a massive amount for it.
Personally I would fix it up using 2nd hand parts from breakers and Ebay.
What is the full damage?
All the best

The full damage is 3 pages long and been priced at £3.5K (new parts)...know i need a new tyre, clutch cover, right side fairing (not going to happen), front wheel, rearset, clipon, switchgear, front brake lever, exhaust, mirror and apparently loads oif other bits. Sure it can't be as much as that.

I'm not sure what all their designations mean, but this is what I reckon it's likely to cost if you shop around a bit on ebay etc.
Try asking on www.mcnninjas.co.uk ; if their board is still working anyway.
Go to your local hardware store for bolts, or get a big tub of them.
Fairings aren't needed; if your lights are ok, then it should hold the front fairing without the side panels.
Exhaust = £100 for an orignal full system on ebay, maybe less
Stay, FR Step, RH = £40.14 ?
Step, FR, RH = £20.72 ?
Bolt 6x10 = £1.40
Cover-Clutch = £68.27 Just bought
Gasket, Clutch cover = £6.90 Real men reuse gaskets
Bolt, 6x30 = £2.16
Cowling, Side RH, Firecracker Red = From about £35 on ebay for a tatty but inshape one; or repair it?
Cowling-assy, Upper, Firecracker Red = From about £35 on ebay; or repair it?
Bracket, Mirror = £15-20
Mirror assembly, RH = £15-20 for both mirrors I think
Holder-Handle, RH = £5-10 if you can find one
Handle RH = £5-10 for both sides
Housing assy control = £15-25, if it can't be repaired
Grip assy, Throttle = £5-10
Weight, Handle = £10 for a pair new
Lever-comp, Front brake = £7-10
Wheel assy, Front, Gray = pair of wheel with all the bits from about £200-£300 on ebay at the mo, including tyres, if you're lucky. Less for single front (the rear always goes for more as well).
Pipe-comp-right fork = A pair of forks: about £125-200, less than half that if you can find a single one
Seal-oil, Fork outer = £5.78 not needed with new fork
Axle, Front = £26.70 Try and get with wheel
Weight, Handle = £9.14 get a pair, see above.
Filter Assy, Oil = £7.67 Get free with oil from busters
Pad, Side Cowling, RH, Upper = £5.46 It's a bike, what would you want padding for
Pad, Side Cowling, RH, Central = £5.46 It's a bike, what would you want padding for
Pad, Side Cowling, RH, Lower = £14.46 It's a bike, what would you want padding for
Pad, Upper Cowling, RH = £3.51 It's a bike, what would you want padding for
Pad, Upper Cowling, LH = £3.51 It's a bike, what would you want padding for
Lever-Brake, Pedal = £5-10
Step, RR, RH = £29.60 ?
Cover-Meter Case, Upper = Not sure what this is for; if it's important, probably £10-20
Tank-Resonator, RH, M.F. = £29.92 ?
Bracket, Mirror = £35.70 See above
120/65-Z17 Dunlop D207 = £75.90 Get a better tyre, and get it cheap on ebay
Duct, Inner = £2-5
Duct, Ram, RH, M.F.C.GRA = £5-10
Seal, Cover, RH = £2.04
Cover, Ram Duct, RH, M.F. = £21.36
Stay = £41.16
3.6 litres engine oil = £20 for 4l better oil with oil filter
Fork oil = £5.02 not needed now
Screws = £7.92
Washers, Nylon, 5.3x11.5 = £8.40
Nuts, 5mm = £22.96 |
