 |
|
My little msx 125 has just clicked over 750 miles, and in order to keep its warranty, was due a dealer service at 600 miles.
As it's the easiest bike in the world to service, I've already done this myself, but in order to keep the warranty, I'll need to get this done by mr Honda, or a n other dealer, for the sum of £80 to Change 900 ml of oil and give everything a little wiggle
Is it worth paying £80 for the all important stamp in order to keep the warranty? What does BCF think?

£80 to keep it in warranty or pay £400-£500 for a part that may fail later on because the warranty hasn't been honored?
I will let you decide. ____________________ https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=284963 - What to expect on a MOD 1 (contains video footage) - Posted by BG5067

Maybe, but you're going to be selling it on to 17 year olds at some point who probably won't pay extra because you have had it serviced properly...
If it was bigger than a 125 then I would flat out say yes.
Just my opinion of course ____________________ Malaguti F12 Phantom-Dead, Suzuki AY50- Dead, NRG power DD LQ, CBR125.

A first service on a modern Honda? Yes, I'd do that.
I'm surprised you didn't get that included in the price. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I kept up with getting my 125 serviced at a Yamaha dealer for practically the length of the two year warranty. It was only the last one in that period that I didn't (mainly as the local dealership around the area I moved to wanted £70 p/h labour charge. )
Tbh, it served me reasonably well, as I've had a few minor things that have needed doing under the warranty claim. (Replacement sensor for the speedo, a new top piece/strip on the tank as it spontaneously started to crack one day and a few problems with it overheating sorted out).
Overall the cost has probably evened out over getting it serviced independently and having to pay out for those things myself (it was only £45 p/h at a Yamaha dealership on the Isle of Man). However, if something major had gone wrong, it could have been a different story. At the end of the day, as someone who had/has very limited knowledge of bikes or any mechanics in general, it's good to have the peace of mind knowing you can just drop it off to get sorted should a problem occur. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.
